I'm confused. Albeit not an unusual state in my case, I can usually manage to figure out how to get 'unconfused' by this time. I'm, well, not NEW to mylots, but neither have I been here long. Can someone explain the 'Ratings' to me and how (or if) I can find out what my ratings are? I assumed (and you know what they say about the word ASSUME don't you?:) anyway, I assumed that when I rate a post that I was more or less saying 'yea' or 'nay' to content, interest etc. Am I wrong? HELP! I need unconfusing.

The star rating is how other people judge you on myLot. The higher the number the more positive rated posts you have gotten.
But if you run into a group of mean people on here who rate people negative for no reason, your star will fall. I had a 7 star earlier in the week, but dropped to a 4 overnight.
I've rated everyone here a +. Please do the same for me.
The higher your star, the more you earn as well, so it's important to rate each and every post. But always remember to rate how they post, not what the post. Even if you don't agree, but the post is well written rate them positve. If they verbally attack someone, go off the topic or just put "yes" or "No" as an answer, then rate them negative.
Also, handing out best responses helps peoples' ratings on here too. As the starter of this thread, that's your job to mark someone's response best response.
Happy myLotting!

I rate everything with a +, unless there is a personal attack going on. If I don't agree with a subject, or have no interest in it, I don't answer it. When the - is chosen, it effects the star that is by the name... you'll have one after you reach (100). When you put your cursor on it, it tells you how many points you have.
The ! is used only in cases of serious abuse, of the rules or of a person. I haven't used that yet, but its been close!

Hey Alamode... You're still up too!! lol
Thanks for the counsel. I don't think I've used the - yet, usually only rate when I believe it's written well enough to generate a lively discussion... think I'll re-evaluate my rating finger...lol

From what I can gather, saying "nay" to a post might hurt the person giving the negative response. I really wish myLot would post a better more defined set of guidelines on their site. I don't believe they want the members to know any and all details of their operation and payout schedules.

I only know that you get your first rating star at 100 discussions and the number is determined by how others have rated your discussions and responses.
I always rate positive or not at all.
Don't feel confused or anything. I didn't know about the "hover" - and I'm still trying to figure my way around the site as well.

You won't be able to see your ratings until you get a star. You'll get that when you hit 100 posts.
After that, just take your curser and hover over your star. A number will come up such as 65/100 and that is your rating in myLot.
