Which would you choose?

If you had to choose between being blind or deaf, like if your life depended on it or something, which would you choose? I would choose deaf because with todays technology if you are deaf you can still talk on the phone, watch tv, drive, watch the sunrise/sunset, and do all the things that you would normally do except hear in the traditional sense of the word. They even have technology nowadays that allow for a deaf person to listen to music and whatnot. But if you are blind, you not only can not see, but you also can not drive, watch tv, watch a sunrise or sunset, see a smile on your child's face, etc. So that's my thoughts on it. How about you? If you had to choose one, would you rather be blind or deaf? Why?

for me, deaf would be better, because there is a lot to still know and learn by the eyes rather than by touching and hearing by your hands and ears....you may not even know what to do with yourself to protect if someone is hurting you physically....you have no place to run....God forbid. but there is still lots of reasons why you cant enjoy being blind the beauty of God's nature. the love a person can show to you....and the flowers or gifts the person gives you....and that persons face that you cannot forget. he she may not hear you talk but surely you can show it through your eyes....by looking at him her.

I would also prefer to be deaf. I can't afford not to see the beauty of the world. Well, all senses are really helpful. But seeing is the most essential of all, I must say.

I would not like to be either but if I had to choose, I would go for deaf. The thought of not seeing my grandson's face when he smiles...I just shudder at the thought. Even though they do have amazing technologies now for blindness and deafness, I would choose deafness because...seeing is believing.

I guess I have to agree with you. But I have seen that medical science is improving some things regarding blindness. Who knows maybe some day the blind will be able to see.

I would definetly choose to be deaf. To me blind would be much worse.

If I absolutely HAD to choose, it would be to be deaf. As you said, there are always technology improvements for that; as for sight, we've had less innovations for people who are completely blind. I love reading, watching tv, all that stuff, and even though they have audio books, I much prefer the voice in my head that gives me a picture of something as opposed to a man's voice reading to me. Different voices and the different way people emphasize words do create different pictures.
