Parallel Universes. Fact or fiction?

I've been thinking about this one for a while, and it seems to me that the idea of parallel universes seemd pretty good, but the thought that they are created by a choice we make is fantasticly arrogant!
If it is true, then this, and every other universe in existance is because of us! Unlikely at best. Of course, I still like the thought of them existing, I just think that their creation is probably liked to something out of our control.
What do you think?

Long story short, I do believe these parallel dimensions exist. I do not find it arrogant at all. There are millions of choices spread upon billions of people. Each choice has multiple outcomes. Factor in all of this and one gets multiple trillions of possible realities.
