i wear a hat primarily for heat. i live in canada, so i wear one to keep my head warm during the winter. also in the summer, i wear one to keep the sun off my head, but only if i am going to be outdoors for any length of time, say at the beach...

I usually wear a knit cap in the winter, for warmth. I sometimes where a baseball cap in the summer, just to keep my hair back. There might have been once or twice in my life that wearing a hat of some kind was a fashion statement. Good luck with your project.

I normally don't and the only time I do is when my hair is messy or needs cutting. which isn't very often and now I don't bother :P

Oh I guess you might have done your survey by now.. but I wear a hat in the winter mainly just to keep my head warm, but it has to be fashionable, although I don't really follow fashion as such (hope that makes sense) Anyway I would wear a hat to a wedding or similar occasion if required, I quite like hats and would wear one more if I could find occasions to wear them to!

Hi Linz! Long time no see!
I wear a hat for protection from the sun. I live in hot, sunny Queensland, in Australia, and we are encouraged to wear hats outside at all times as we have a high incidence of skin cancer here. I don't like wearing one, but I do if I'm going to the beach, gardening, or walking.
When I lived in the UK, I wore one in winter to keep warm!
