My sister turned me on to Yankee candles a few years ago they sure are good. I too have been disappointed in the past by candles that smell great until you get home. I read somewhere once that the more they smell before lighting them the less they smell when they are lit. I don't know if it is true though.

I love Yankee Candles, I think they are one of the most fragrant candles made. My favorite is the Macintosh, I also love Vineyard. I just recently received a new candle for Christmas and it was a Tyler candle and the scent was crushed pineapples. This candle is equally fragrant as the Yankee candles.

Yes, I've bought candles before and when I lit them they didn't smell. I love the yankee candles and they last a long time. I also like the Glade candles too.

Actually some of the el-cheapo candles at the dollar stores aren't too bad especially the ones that are like the glade scented candles, like the apple cinnamon one. Love that as it makes the place smell like an apple pie baking. Oh, now I'm hungry for an apple pie. Got any?

That sucks Terry!! I really hate when that happens. I want the thing to smell when I burn it! I usually only buy Yankee or Bath & Body Works candles. I have never been let down as far as they go, and they last a really long time too.
I have found a few from Wal Mart that smell good, I don't remember the name of them though. They burnt up really fast, that's the only thing I didn't like about them.

Sometimes the more you spend, the better the scent. I bought a bunch from the dollar store one year to paint on for gifts and you couldn't smell them at all! It was a disappointment to me! I guess sometimes it is really true...you get what you pay for! LOL

I have found that too. It's another "you get what you pay for" deals. Although, I have found a great source for those tarts. I found a seller on EBAY that has great ones. I'll message you with the seller, I don't want people thinking I'm trying to sell something. She calls them "pucks", and they're fantastic.

OH yes..I have had that experience, I love Yankee candles. One time we bought one at Illuminations, the scent was pound cake. It smelled really good. My dog ate it. Luckily, we bought 2 and he only ate one because it was a real drooler...from beginning to end of it's burning time I should have been wearing a bib.

Hello dear TerryZ. I used to have a candle which smelt so nice and sweet, but the smell is too strong and I have stopped using it and it is now placed somewhere in the room. Yes, cheap ones are different from expensive ones. I think that money counts. lol. Thanks for your discussion.

Hi TerryZ! haha..I did buy several of them actually. I thought I had a great find, wow! the candles smelled really good and they were on sale. So, I bought several of them and when I lighted them that night because I was bragging about them to my husband..oh oh, hubby was having a good time laughing at my cheap candles because it does not have any smell. Sigh! Told myself never will I ever be a sucker for cheap scented candles again! Take care and have a nice day. :)

I got some cheap candles once that smelled like sunflowers perfume. When I lit them they didn't give off a smell at all really. In order to smell them you had to practically hold them up to your nose. My candles have to make the room smell good.

wow, that's terrible! haha. i can't say i've ever bought a candle only to find it has no smell when burning, but i wouldn't be very happy - haha. i usually buy yankee candles as well - i LOVE them! the clean cotton smells amazing, haha. i sometimes buy them &don't burn them because i don't want them to be gone, haha. but walmart has a hazelnut creme candle - omg, it smells wonderful. when my boyfriend and i burn it the smells carries all through our place. it makes everything smell really great, i love it.

There are tons of different candles out there, and I will agree, some of them are definately better than others. I know many times I have bought one somewhere and get it home, and feel like I missed it, as there is No Smell there, or little smell.
Besides Yankee Candles, I Love Party Lite, and then there is another brand I used to sell that was Great as well. Just cannot remember the brand. But I do definately agree, when it comes to candles, you usually will get what you pay for, so do not be too afraid to spend more.

Well you're right a lot of times the cheaper ones are that way. But I had bad luck with a Party Lite candle and it most certainly wasn't cheap. I was disappointed because I had heard so much about them. One brand that isn't really expensive that I really enjoy and others mention they smell good when they walk into my house is Welcome Home.
