Sleeping in late.

My daughter is 24 years old and loves to sleep late. We went to bed at the same time last night and I've already been up for 4 hours and she's still asleep. She does this as often as she can. Why is it that young people today need and want so much sleep? Are they just lazy? Or do they need this much sleep? What's your opinion on this subject? Are you one of those young people? Do you sleep in whenever you can? Are you one of those people that sleep a lot and like to sleep in the morning?

I usually sleep at o1.00 and wake up at 08.00, and thats not much, since i dont have a work to do or duties most of the time. However, i need a noon nap of 2-3hours every day.
I think that young people have been like this ever. They live every moment of life with more energy and passion than older ones.It kinda consumes their energy quicker.Personally, i am just lazy :)

I love your honesty, that you are lazy. Not very many people would say that about themselves. I am also lazy in a lot of things.

Sleep is needed by everybody to rest and relax the mind and body. Young kids and teeners need more sleep to help them grow.
I am not young but I tend to stay late in bed coz I usually sleep late at night. My older son usually stay at bed late sleeping until 10 or 11 am when he has no classes coz he stay awake at night playing with the computer. The young son usually go to bed early so he is an early riser.

I am just NOT a morning person that is my excuse, being a typical wolf, I am very nocturnal and I much prefer to stay up to the wee hours of the morning and wake up really late. This morning I didn't surface till 10.30am! I'll go to bed about 1 or 2 in the morning. I don't function in the mornings. I usually like to get 9 hours sleep. Trouble is I sleep more now at 36 than I did when I was in my teens! I don't think I'm lazy, I can get more done at night and my brain is in fifth gear, before 11am my brain can't even get into first gear!

I'm definitely a night person. Its not that I go out and party every night but I just like staying up at night. I actually want to be a morning person but I really can't force myself to do that. I think that a person's sleeping habits from childhood affects this a lot. A lot of people I know wake up automatically early in the morning even if they slept late. I would want that too but I find it really hard to get up early. Its also a struggle on my part.

My daughter did the same thing until she had her baby. Now she HAS to get up early. You say you have been up for 4 hours and that's because you have responsibility. Once your daughter starts to feel responsibility, she will get up earlier.

Yeah! I am 24 years old. I am the person who can get up if there are many things to do and i had planed them, so i will get up eaily. Just as daily work time, i am used to getting up at 7 'o clock, and seldom later. However, when the weekend is coming, i become to another kind of peroson, that is lazy girl. I like to have a deep and later sleep at weekend, even if i had woke up , i still like to keep in bed until the time that i should get up. HAWHAW! I always say it is a great way to lose work and life pressure, it is also a kind way to gain a sunny feeling on monday!

hi chrislotz. ^__^
I'm 25 years old but I don't sleep a lot. well, I do sometimes but only when its friday and saturday because there's no work on the next day and I would make up for the days that I sleep late and wake up early because of work. ^__^;;
at first I thought maybe your daughter sleep that much because she's still growing. but nah, only teenagers grow. LOL but I'm not saying you're daughter is lazy. maybe she needs a lot of rest because she did a lot of work during the day. ^__^

Hi,oh yes!!!Hahaha, when i was 24 i could sleep all day.I felt tired and it felt os good to jsut sleep,in a deep sleep. It drove my mom mad, haha!I believe i needed this sleep, might sound funny, but all the extra sleep that i got when i was 24 is badly missed due to the fact that i hardly get any now and im 34.I wish i could be 24 just to sleep all the time, haha.I think its normal at this age,my brother is 24 in 2 days and he sleeps alot!!!Every extra minute he gets,he goes for cat naps alot or even sleeps like 14 hours a day sometimes, wow!

I've always been an early riser myself. At 24 had my own place. Had to get up and take care of business. Whether it was work, laundry, whatever. If I didn't get up, well it didn't get done. Still alot that way I guess. Don't know if my daughter will be that way. For now at 4 she tends to rise early too.

I change pretty much every week. Most of the time I work at night so I don't go to bed until at least 3 am. Hopefully I'll be up before noon but every now and then, I'll sleep until 1 or 2 in the afternoon. Friday I work at 7 am so I'll be up at 5:30 am (maybe not conscious but awake). After a couple of coffees I'll be as awake as possible. It kind of sucks changing schedules all the time. I would much rather wake up at 9 in the morning, that would be my ideal. I don't think it's laziness on teenager's part. Have you seen the size they are growing to now? They're huge compared to only a few years ago. Or maybe so much sleep is what's making them grow so big???????;)

I LOVE TO SLEEP! sleeping is awsome simply because it is the ultimate rest. I am the type of person who can function really well at 2am then at 10am. i hate to wake up early. I am a college student so I have classes that start at 12:50pm so that I can get my sleep. It isnt that I am lazy it is just that my body like to rest when it is time to rest. I do force my self to get though like at 10:00 or 11:00 but if I were to wake up any ealier then I wouldnt be sleepin much. I think that generally people who wake up late go to sleep late and people who wake up early sleep early. It is all a preference and how your body reacts to the time. I like to wake up with the sun out. Not when it is cold and dark outside.

I used to drive my mom crazy- I was the same way! I just wasn't a morning person and I worked at night!
Once kids, school, or work responsibility happens that will change! I love to sleep- still do!

I'm 21 and for as long as I can remember I've opted to sleep when it was an option.... and when it wasn't! I love to sleep, particularly during the morning/early afternoon. I'm not a morning person, never have been, and don't think I ever will be. I can stay up just as long as everyone else, though I prefer the night hours. It's an annoyance because the rest of the world isn't on my schedule, but I just don't feel good or energized if I try to mess with my bodies natural preferences.

The body system of individuals differs. I cannot forego my 7 to 8 hours sleep. It affects my health and moods. Whereas my husband hardly sleeps for 5 hours. He goes on watching tv till late night. But nothing happens to him. He is used for this. So ultimately it is one's own body system type.

I have never been one to sleep in late. Even when I was a teenager I was always dressed and ready to go by 9 in the morning. It used to drive me crazy because all of my friends would sleep in until late morning or early afternoon.
I am now 33 years old with two younger daughters. I am usually up by 5:30 or so. If I sleep in until 7 there is usually something wrong! LOL I don't understand the appeal of wasting my day in bed, personally. I guess I never have.
