Who thinks this is normal? I am one who does NOT think it is. Here is the full story.
My husband and I were invited to a certian families house for lunch, we arrive there and are greeted and told that the youngest child's baby rabbits had died that night from the cold.
Anyway a few different conversations later we are in the kitchen sitting at the kitchen table as lunch is being served up, the dead rabbits story came up again as there was another visitor at the table who had not been told, so we heard the story again, but this time the story was ended with the question.... do you want to see them?
My husband and I thought it was a sick joke until we were informed that they dead rabbits bodies were infact behind my husband and I on the side table in a patterned box!!! I was horrified, they seemed to think nothing of it and the youngest jumped up grabbed the box and took the lid off and proudly showed that indeed the bodies were in the box. I expressed my disgust but they seemed not to care and placed the box with the dead rabbit bodies on the table. My husband and I looked at one another and in the end I made a point of I did not want to eat lunch with a box of 6 little dead rabbit bodies on the table.
Now I found this strange but they seemed to find it normal, but this is the same family that let the youngest keep a dead birds body wrapped in a tissue in a biscuit tin under their bed for a month, and would bring it out to show people!
I would like other peoples views on this and if it is 'normal' and other people do this kind of thing and why!!??
I hate to think what they will do when one of them pass away, prop them up at the table and carry on!!

Of course it isnt normal, it is gross and very disgusting. Not only since they placed them on the table while lunch, but mainly because they kept them. What can they do with them, i wonder. And its even more disgusting if you think that their kids are aware and think its ok...

Yes i agree with you. I dont think that this is at all normal and i think its a bit disturbing. Maybe this is how they "deal" with the rabbits dying. And i definitely would not have eaten off that table. I would probably never want to eat there again if i was you.

Fawcey, how did you sit there? I would have been so sick. I am really sensitive to such things though. I am one of those people who if they start thinking about where the food comes from they can't eat at all. I would have gotten up and left.

Well sedel1027, I am not sure to tell you the truth. If it happened again I would have but at the time I was trying to keep the peace with my family as it was close to breaking point and we already had our differences so my husband and I tried to be civil, but looking back I wish at that time I had walked out, either way it was seen as me and my husband who were in the wrong, not them. *sigh* They know I am sensitive about that kind of thing to which makes it even more sick. =)

That is totally disgusting and not appropriate at a dinner table at all. I am not amused at all. They should have been burried right away as soon as they found out and not left in the box in the kitchen where people eat that can cause germs. EWWWWWW
