Just A Vent About Tags And Tagging!!!

Any feature can be abused. A person can write an abusive discussion, should we not allow people to write discussions? People can send abusive messages, should we no longer have that feature either? Abusive photos can be uploaded, so should we do away with that, too? Yes, the tagging feature has been abused, but so has many other features. Doing away with the ability to tag without posting won't stop people from abusing it, either. They can still post and add abusive tags. Yes, they'll have a post in the discussion, making them a "suspect", but so will a lot of other people. Instead of asking myLot to "fix" everything, every member here needs to take responsibility for making this a great site by reporting abusive behavior.

Hi budsr03! Oh i never thought that could be done and it is being abused by others. Never came across abusive tags before and i guess, that is very immature thing to do. I just hope we could just all have a smooth co-existence here in mylot. I hope that mylot admin will look into this and try to do something about the tagging feature. Take care and have a nice day! Yes, they should eliminate that tagging system, unless and only when a person does respond to a discussion. I've seen some pretty nasty tags given on some discussions, and a few jokers that in particular like to "stalk" certain people and leave real derogatory tag remarks. Now why even such words get through in the first place I don't know, cause if you used those same words here when posting a response wouldn't go through and you get some kind of warning about it.

I think removing the ability for people to tag discussions that they have not replyied to is carrying things to far. I have tags discussions that I didn't have time to respond to, in hopes of being able to find them later. The reason that the tagging function is even here in the first place is to help people find things. And as someone who has been involved in website design, I know firsthand that the words (tags) you think that someone is going to be using are not necessarily the ones that actually get used. As for people rating without replying, I have also done that. Occasionally, I read a discussion that I find interesting, but really have nothing to add. If people could only rate discussions that they had taken part in, we would all be nines and tens. By the way, I am a writer. I don't believe that the people you are talking about should be doing what they are doing (and their fingerprints are over some people's discussions); on the other hand, I believe in freedom of expression. It is just too bad that they are expressing themselves in such a crude way, and chose to do it behind a mask. I understand what you have said, but I think that your suggested solution is going too far. Blessed be.

Definitely. Its not just the tagging system, its also the rate without responding system too. Both of these are broken!! Seriously, they need a fix! They are both abused by some stupid "members" and it can get annoying or worse.

You're right. People should not be able to tag without responding. I did not know that you could do that. I also just responded to a post where someone was having problems with people hitting the negative sign without responding to the posting. That too is very hurtful and very dishonest. But I do not think there is any way to catch or stop someone from doing these things. They are the same kind of people who cheat on tests and get away with it!!

This is a good thought. One I actually would have never thought about and considered, and you could be on to something here for sure. I feel this could be a change myLot needs to look into, and remove this feature unless a person responds to that discussion themselves. But the hard part of it all, is that no matter who a person is, if they are here to try and ruin someone or a discussion here on myLot as in a Troll, etc. it will continue to happen until there are a couple of New implements started in here. Just my thoughts.

Bud, I am so sorry for what you are going through; but honestly, I don't understand what you mean. I always tag my "add an image" because you have to, but when it comes to posting the discussion, sometimes I do and sometimes I just use the option to "skip". Am I missing something?

I just hope mylot members be matured enough and responsible enough to use all the features of this site in a nice way. I wish every member need not be reported because they are all following the rules.. But as we can see..that is not the case. Don't worry my friend, those who hide with the tagging feature because they know they cannot be trace are all coward..:) never mind them.. :) Peace!

Hmmn, I don't know that!Know, I am aware...THANKS! Just for the recent post I've made, you can't be able to display some photos appropriate to your discussion unless with tags. But the rest, I am unaware of!

Hello there Buds!!!!! actually i wanted to ask mylot staff what the tags are for responding to discussion, don't our posts fall in the category where we post them???? i understand tags with pictures but with discussions, i believe having our posts categorized according to interest is enough :-)

I would agree, and its pretty stupid that anyone would be doing that, so far from being here i have found that the majority of people on here seem very nice actually, more so than on the rest of the web i have found, maybe its the small monetary incentive, i can see how this can become addicting
