Why is it when I write more than 5 or so lines here on the Lot, my computer comes to a crawl as something writes a billion or so kilobytes of whatever into my computer? I have to wait many minutes for this process to end before I can continue writing. And if I write too much for this whatever, it stops everything for what seems to be a minimum of 5 minutes and then pops up a message banner saying that I need 500 posts or more before I can paste. And after I click "ok", it erases the last sentence I wrote. I know I'm not allowed to paste and thus I don't. Yet this brilliant monitoring device can't tell the difference between pasting and slow typing. What's going on here?

It happens to me today too.I only type, never press copy or paste, either at shortcut either by mouse, and the message pops.Worst is it deletes what you have written, or most of it and you got to rewrite it! Now that i write this, it has happened twice already!

I hear ya. Heaven forbid you want to add links to your post or response. I just started another discussion and when I saw it posted, it dropped one of the links and bunched the other two together, off marginalizing one of them. And then of course I found a script error and cannot correct it until there is at least a response. Don't know why they are so steadfast against letting the author of the post make corrections afterwards. We all are human.

The problem likely is not this website. Lets start by your description.
What billion or whatever are you talking about?
How old is your computer, and what OS are you using (by that I mean Windows XP or Windows 98)?
If your computer is more than 6-8 years old, then that may be the beginning of your problems.
What type of Internet do you have, dial-up (aka phone line), dsl, or broadband?
Do you have other programs running, like Limewire, or some such?
What browser are you using (Internet Explorer, Opera, Firefox, Netscape)?
There are quite a few things that can ruin your pc's day. Here are some maintenance questions.
Do you run Defrag?
Is your hard drive full?
How much RAM do you have?
When you start up your PC, do you see 4 billion things appear in the taskbar by the clock (bottom right corner of screen)?
Have you tried using another web browser, to see if that is the problem?
I could go on and on, but this should give you some back things to look for. PC troubleshooting can be very frustrating, I know this from experience (its what I do). Good luck

Great advice and thank you! The maintenance is done frequently on this 4 y/o XP system, most of it daily with regard to internet temporary files and other non essentials. The computer works fine everywhere - even on myLot. It's only when I type responses or post a discussion that this event occurs. And only here on myLot. That's why the question. What changes when I start typing in a field box?
