Do you have a light inside your refrigerator?

When I rented my apartment the refrigerator came with it. It's not one of the newest but it's a good one. I've been here 4 years and the bulb blew out about a year after I moved in and I keep forgetting to get one when I'm in the stores. It's something that I can obviously do without so that's probably why I never think about it.
Do you have a light inside your refrigerator? Does it work or does it not work and you forget to replace the bulb....like me? Do you think we really need a light in the refrigerator anyway?

Yes i do..i was fortunate enought to buy a new refrigerator 2 years ago.We had that storm here in Houston ( Rita) and it knocked my a/c a good licking and it needs to be fixed or replaced, but we had some damage so Fema paid us for the damages and i was able to buy a new refrigerator.I got a double door with ice and water and it is really a nice one.we had so much to clean up ,we lost our lights and had to stay away from our home for 3 weeks, but all i got out of it was a new fridge, but i am thankful for that.I don't supposs we have to have a light in the fridge but it is nice to have one when you get up at night and the lights are off and you want to look for a snack. Those bulbs are cheap and easy to change but i always keep forgetting little things like that when i go to the store. Its got to the point now i have to make a list or i will forget..haha

I have a light inside my refrigerator. I don't guess you would really need it unless it was night time and you didn't want to turn on the kitchen light and bother anyone. I would probably just go without it if mine burned out.

Since I live alone there is nobody for me to bother by turning on the kitchen light but usually I don't even bother.

At home, we have a light in the fridge and thankfully it works. It doesn't go out often thankfully because I hate changing the bulb in the fridge. When I moved into my apartment for school, the light in our fridge did not work. So, we mentioned it to maintenance but they said everything was ok. So, anyway, we ended up buying our own bulb for the fridge and the funny thing is, it doesn't work! So, we just ended up leaving it alone because we figured that it isn't going to work, so no use in trying to fight with it. Although a light would be nice for those late night snacks.

I basically know where everything in my refrigerator is so I don't worry about late night snacks in the dark.

We do have a light inside our refrigerator. I actually had to go open the door and check. "I guess I just dont even think about it.I bet not having one saves a little on the electric consumption. Maybe I will remove ours.I dont really think a light in there is necessary.

When I wrote this I was wondering how many people would have to open their refrigerator to check...lol....I'm sure it does save a little by not having one.

Mmm...since you don't have a light in the fridge and maybe not able to see too well, especially deep inside can't help wondering of all the "science" projects that are there...LOL..Heck even WITH a light in my fridge I tend to forget what food I have inside until sooner or later I open the fridge and notice a "smell"--sure enough, when I go cleaning it out viola I find something in there that must have been some form of food but have no idea what and have no idea how long it' been there..yuk...hehee I'm so used to having a light in my fridge though, that when it does go out, I get a new one

Living alone does have it's perks! My leftovers are usually gone within a couple of days and basically the only food I keep in the refrigerator is milk, butter, eggs, cheese and things of that nature. I haven't had any "unknowns" in there since I had kids.

You ask silly questions sometimes.
I mean that in the nicest way of course! ha ha.
I'd say that yes, a light in the fridge is necessary. I hate that there isn't one in the freezer. Don't you ever get up late at night and need a drink or something from the fridge? can you see without a light on? See I can go to the fridge and leave all the lights off...but i can see what i need in the fridge cause I have a light!
If I had night lights or something I'd probably say no it's not necessary... but I hate having lights on when I'm half asleep.

Well I think by silly I mean that... er, questions that I'd never even think of because they're things that are just there. Like a light in the fridge. I'd never think to ask about it.
ha ha. I don't know. a laugh is always good. Thank you for that.

I don't see it as being lazy. The thing is I really don't need it. I know exactly where everything in my refrigerator is and can put my hand on anything I want even in the dark. I don't even turn my kitchen light on when I go in there.

My fridge does have a light! and i've lived in this apartment for 3 years, and i'm going onto my 4th year. So far the light is good to go! the one in the stove is fine too after all this time. I think i could do without a light in there too. Although its convienent to find thing that sometimes hide way in the back of your fridge, like that old nasty jar of pickles !!

I use the light over my stove all the time and I'm just waiting for that one to go out on me. I'm sure I would replace that very fast when it does.

My refrigerator doesn't have a light too, I bought it from a friend last year, I don't see the need for having the bulb replace because It functions well and good without it.
I wonder though, do we save on electricity if our there is no light on our refigerator?

I'm sure it saves at least a little bit since it is one less lightbulb that is working. I might check on that.

Yes, I have a light in my refrigerator and yes, it works. It may not be needed, but I prefer to have a light in there, especially late at night when I don't want to turn on the kitchen light to look inside the fridge. I tend to replace the bulb as soon as possible, though I did go without one for several days after it burned out due to my local Wal-Mart being out of this type of bulb. I didn't like being without a light in the fridge and once the bulb was replaced I was a happy. :)

I seem to remember having to replace the bulb in my refrigerator once in the almost six years I've been living here, ctry. Or, I should say, my daughter did. I think that like you I would have gone on forever paying it no mind if it were left up to me. But, hey, I'm the person who leaves food in my refrigerator until it becomes something unrecognizable, LOL. It never gets a good cleaning until either my daughter or my ex comes over and complains about it. I think I'm much to cerebral to be bothered by such mundane things as cleaning out the fridge.

Hi,there! Well,my refrigerator is not a new one and we have been using it for a long time.Luckily,it works fine right now and we're happy about that. There's a light in my refrigerator.I think it's good to have a light there when it's in the evening and we don't turn on the light in the hall.I don't think we really need a light in the refrigerator but it helps us to look better at the fridge. The light in my fridge works and we have never changed the bulb.Of course we also hope that won't happen cause maybe we would also forget and anyways it's troublesome. Thanks for the discussion and have a nice day^_^

I do! I need that light like crazy! I don't have the greatest eyesight and if I were to go downstairs for my midnight snack and open the fridge to nothing but black darkness, then I could end up with a mouth full of sour cream instead of yogurt. I don't think that'd be a very good snack... Or a pleasant way to wake up! Lights were installed in refridgerators for a reason. They help you see the labels and it helps you see what's in the back of the refridgerator when you're searching for something (Where did my darn relish go!) So they obviously have their purpose. But if you don't feel you need one, then don't use one! You'll save that much more on your electric bill!

I have a light inside in the refrigerator. I think it is useful. With the light you can see everything in the fridge. And you can raid the fridge without turning on the light in the kitchen.

I think that a light is necessary and helps to save on energy unless you have extremely good external llighting. The longer you look for something, the longer your refrigerator door stays open letting the cold out. Come summer if your milk seems to be going sour faster...that is probably why.

When I purchase the refrigerator at home, it comes with a bulb and its been 3 years I think, and the bulb is still in good condition. Im happy that its not busted still. Of course, when its busted already, I have to buy a replacement, its hard to get something in the dark specially inside the refrigerator. :-)
