or are you a skeptic and doubt that he even exists? I know there are many believes here in this world, and here in myLot. I know how I believe, as I am a Christian, and I know I would not be here without Jesus in my Life, but I am curious to why others here Celebrate Christmas, etc.
Yes, I do believe in exchanging of gifts, and spending time with family, but I also believe it a time of reflection to look back on my life, and be Thankful to Jesus for what he has done in my life, and what he will be doing for me in the future.

I believe Jesus is the reason the Christians celebrate but it isn't my reason. I celebrate because it is fun to put up the tree and see the lights twinkle in the reflection of my children's eyes. I love the look of awe they have when they get up on Christmas morning and see all the colorfully wrapped gifts and the joy they get in giving also.
I love having an excuse to get together with family and friends and share in traditions that have been passed down through the generations.
Yet, the one thing that never, ever enters my mind is Jesus. I'm an atheist and celebrate "Christmas". I don't consider myself a hypocrite. Christians are quite conceited to think only their traditions and beliefs are important on Dec. 25.

Thanks for the interesting views. That is what this site is about is seeing how others feel and believe on a topic.

I just had a conversation about this a couple of days ago. I noticed that everyone has something to say about the holiday but none of them talk about Jesus' birth the reason for the holiday. And the hypocrits come out in droves, you know those people celebrating Jesus birth while claiming that they are atheists.

This is an interesting topic indeed. Especially when someone who Claims to be a Christian says they do not Celebrate Christmas, and then have no Biblical backing on why they choose to feel this way. To me, that makes me wonder.

Actually, there are a lot of holidays for different religions around this same time of year. The winter equinox is a time that encourages celebration.
Our family celebrates Yule within our immediate circle and Christmas with the extended family.
As far as Christ goes, I guess that would refer to mostly Christians. I believe that the gods are omnipresent and this time of year the wonder of the season brings joy to many who believe.

I believe in Jesus Christ. I think he gave all his happiness and took the pain and die for us. God love us so much that he gave his own son for us. Joy, peace, happiness, love, forgive, forget, etc are the words of good. Sad, sorrow, depression, anger, hate, sin, etc are the words of bad. I think everyone should love onself and love each other and forget their sins and forgive themself. I think when we are happy we are able to make others happy. I believe Christmas is the time for celebration, getting together with family, meeting friends, buying gifts, giving gifts, recieving gifts, love, peace, joy, happiness, etc. There is a old song in which a child smiles at a person and the person give the smile to another person and the smiles spread out. What we give to the world is what return to us. If we give love and happiness to the world, it will return to us. I love to see everyone being happy and loving each other. I think Christmas is the season for it. Real love means God.

count me in along with the believers! ^__^ i also believe in the existence of Jesus and He is the reason why people in the whole wide world are celebrating Christmas.
i always greet Him in my prayers every Christmas since its His birthday and what i do to commemorate His birthday is i prepare gifts for my nephews and nieces and all the children in the whole family. ^__^ since Jesus gave a lot and even sacrificed Himself to save us, then its a good thing if we can give something too right?? ^__^
Merry Christmas to you and your family!

I, too, know for sure that Jesus is the only force in my life and the reason for the season. I totally despise the commercialism, and I can hardly believe that there are people who take offense to someone wishing them a "Merry Christmas".
Merry Christmas, KrauseHome!

For me it is the "reason for the season." As someone else noted, other religions have holidays at this time of year, so they have their reasons too.
I try to shut out all the shopping "noise" and the focus on spending huge amounts of money on gifts, and keep my eye on the real meaning of Christmas, and how it always brings family together... mine and many others as well. And that's really the original occasion for celebrating Christmas: celebrating a new baby coming into the family.

Hi Krause,
Yes, Jesus is the reason for the season. Without Him, there would be no Christmas! We celebrate His birth...the greatest Gift of God!
Thank you, Lord Jesus, for coming into this broken and sinful world to take away our sins!
Amen!

Yes, I truly believe Jesus is the reason for the season. I'm also a christian and we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ on Christmas. We also exchange gifts and we also give to the needy. But we never forget the real reason for the season. I'm thankful for what he did for me too, I just can't thank Him enough. Have a blessed Christmas.

I believe wholeheartedly the way you do. Jesus truly is the reason for the season. Though many will give and receive gifts during this time, they leave the most important reason out of their lives.

Christmas is because of Jesus. I was part of the church choir for the Christmas season and I believe Jesus is the reason for the season. Giving gifts and exchanging cards is the best part of it for the reason that Jesus is the best gift I have received from God. Thanks for the post.
