Well this one... I'll hold a bit of my "comments" for Internet Explorer. Anyways I've left the news link for this one at the door.
http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,140684-c,internetexplorer/article.html
Okay now for comments...
"IE 8 has passed a key Web standards test that ensures the browser won't "break" the Web."
I can't wait... -_- /sarcasm
"IE8 has passed the "Acid2 Browser Test" from the Web Standards Project, which shows whether a browser renders a Web site in a certain way. If the browser renders the site correctly, it means the browser supports certain accepted Web standards."
There might be hope, but still want to see the final product (going from the last IEs who can blame me? -_-)
"Web sites that were created for older versions of IE didn't work properly on IE7. Microsoft hopes to remedy this problem so the situation is not repeated with IE8"
Not getting my hopes up.
"The key design goal for IE8, he said, is compatibility with existing Web sites and Web standards supported in other browsers to provide a premium user experience."
Wasn't that said last time? -_-
Alright, I'm being a bit cynical, but what do you all think of this.

It is good to know that Internet Explorer is try to improve their software and it more safe. But for me Firefox still the best of three reasons. First it is user friendly. Second you can easily customize and tweak. Third its fast and safe. Fourth lots of add-ons. Lastly Firefox already established its name. In my opinion most of the user are not aware of latest and more security of a browser along the user can use internet.

One can also tweak Opera too in the says you described. Also watch firefox since its becoming more popular and with that popularity becoming more of a target. But you are right, either of these is better than IE.

if you ask me Internet Explorer version 7 was a complete flop from Microsoft. It had a lot of problems, and as soon as you install it I felt yet computer becomes vulnerable to a lot of spy events. It was launched in competition with Firefox 2.0 and I think it lost big way. Firefox had not many features and then Internet Explorer which were better than very useful as well as Internet Explorer although introduced Browsing with tabs, it still used a lot of resources which is not the case with its competitor. So I hope this time the Microsoft team must have learnt from the mistakes and would have developed something which can at least compete Firefox. I know they cannot beat them but at least they can make something which is to the standard. Although you have mentioned it has passed few browser tests like Acid2. But I think even the previous version would have passed that test. But still it flogged big-time. So we hope that this time it is something that can compete.

Hopefully it does become something to compete THIS time. Firefox 3 is set to come out soon and I think Opera is going up to 10 soon too. I'll wonder if IE 8 can actually hang with either of those in terms of use, safety, etc.

Well there are just so many reasons why people should just dump I E and get firefox. A far superior browser is every way. IE is slower less user friendly and not very customizable.
While firefox has all that to offer and more. Oh and if ya add firetune to an already great browser you get even more speed.
I am stuck with dial up for a couple of more weeks and Firefox makes it a little more bearable.

I use both firefox and opera. Much better than IE. I'm not going back to IE for any reason.
