Well seems my little donut discussion prompted a few things. Number one being dad whining for a donut or three. HAHAHAHA! So as you can see in the attatched photo there's dad with his 3 favorite things. Coffee, donuts, and his word search puzzles. he is doing great but still lazy as hell. His home P.T. & O.T. has stopped as medicaid only pays for so many visits. I do get him to exercise ever so often. His bathing has also come to a semi halt. But we are waiting for a call from the nurse that did this for 6 weeks. There will be a $30 co pay for this to continue. So I am going ahead with this and makie dad pay for it to save my bad back. He has been real chiiper as of late feeling randy and goofy at times which is great. he is going to be with me a long time it seems. Especially since each time he gets ill I run him to the Dr or the ER. He hates me for that as well. Oh well pops deal with it. Thanks all and have a great day/evening.

I'm glad he is doing good. I hope that you can get that nurse back in to help out with things. And it's good to have a child (I know you're an adult LOL) that will take such good care of you like you do for your dad.

She will be back for his baths. But just once a week is sufficient I feel. It's a matter of us connecting on the phone to set it up all over again. More papers to fill out and sign for insurance purposes. Grrr!

Oh I need an easement of stress very badly. The holidays with shopping and wrapping brought my spirits up and stress level down a lot. Plus this Casino night stay over will be a lot of fun and stress release as well. Thanks for stopping in also. Have a great day/evening.

Grandpa Bob, what's up with your dad? I am not sure what PT and OT means, and I'm not sure why he's unable to take a bath, could you explain? Moreover ,do you know why he doesn't like to exercise or move around?
Thank you

I know all too well what it's like to be a caregiver and no matter how hard you try and how good a job you do it seems sometimes nothing is good enough. I guess a donut once in a long time won 't do anyone much harm but I remember he drinks pop as well. Perhaps he is lazy but being heavy does not make an eazy time to get around. I hope he doesn't put on the 40 pounds he already lost because that will slow him down considerably. Good luck.

it's great that you're taking care of your dad. it's a thankless task, and geriatrics can be difficult. great to hear that he's in a good mood though. must be the sugar and caffine. :) cheerio!

Glad you made him happy! A donut every so often isn't so bad! Sounds like you are doing a great job of taking care of him! Keep up the good work!

It is so good to hear that he is doing so well. I am glad you are able to care for him. I can understand having someone come in to bathe him. That is a CHORE!! $30 is not too much to save your back!
I also have a weakness for donuts, chocolate donuts to be precise! LOL But I don't do the coffee thing, I prefer to dunk in milk, or just eat them plain.
Merry Christmas!

He likes his word puzzles! My Father has developed an obsession, almost, with word puzzles. He was recently diagnosed with altzemeirs, & Mum bought him a word puzzle book. He just loves it. So my daughter bought him a harder one for christmas & he is so excited by it. I guess it help keeps the brain active.
I dont blame you getting a nurse to bathe your Dad. It is too much to expect you to do everything & bending down is difficult even for me.

It's great to hear that your Dad is doing so well! In the interest of your health I think you should look into someone comeing in to take care of his bathing...you're not getting any younger after all...lol!
