Did you ever have any? I had some when I was about 9. I was really disappointed because I though they'd look just like the package NOT! They really grossed me out I actually ended up flushing them because I got sick of looking at those nasty looking things. I seem to remember they had these balls on the end of them that looked disgusting to me.

That was a marketing gimmick that sold brine shrimp to people that would not have ordinarily bought them. They still sell the sea monkey kits in some stores. The brine shrimp can live in the eggs for many years (if conditions are right) and hatch when put into brine water. If not too crowded they can with good feeding and water changes, grow to maturity and breed in the container so that you might have several generations growing at the same time. I use brine shrimp for food for my fish especially the young fish that are large enough to eat them.

I loved these they were great we killed them off in the end, but they were so much fun. But, yeah basically all they are is brine shrimp.

I always thought sea monkeys were cool. We grow the baby brine shrimp to feed to our angel fish babies.
My son had another growing creature that I cannot remember its name (the word was similar to trilobyte) and it is some kind of prehistoric shoecrab. But it is the same kind of thing except only 2-3 of them hatch and they get huge (like 3+ inches). They were the nastiest things I had ever seen.
Personally, I like the grow a frog kits better.

I seem to remember trying it but nothing ever happened. One of my friends had some and they weren't what I was expecting either. I thought they were pretty gross too. If I remember right her little sister some how managed to dump them out in her bedroom and my friend was mad at her for days for killing her sea monkeys.
