I have a box full of pictures of me growing up. All the ones of Christmas, I never was smiling. Ive always disliked Christmas. I think it was the only time of the year I was allowed to show my feelings. Sounds bad yes. Now I spend Christmas alone. Im invited to go places but I just cant do it. I dont decorate. I dont send cards and no calls. 43 years old and I think its time to change.

I'm a bit late for the discussion, but not for a response. You can still celebrate, decorate, live the season as intended. Of course if you choose not to, that should be supported to. The point is to do what you wish and to acknowledge your own feelings in it. Either way DB, I wish you the best. Oh and if you feel the Christmas season sometime during the next year, maybe keep a mini light up tree, a little bit of lights, something to reinforce the spirit. It may change what you do when the real thing comes, or it may change nothing. You could also end up with an entirely new tradition on your hands. Again, the point is, be you and do as you wish.

Sounds like you might want to start a New tradition, and find a reason to Celebrate and be Happy for this time. I know many of us carry Bad Memories of the holidays, myself included, but that does not mean we need to be unhappy and alone. Being around others is a way to help us to understand that people really do care about us, and are hoping for the best. Wishing you the Best, and hoping you can find something good this yr. in Christmas.
