Have you ever been to a restraunt and the table next to you has a little kid....

This happens lots of times. Mainly, I feel sorry for the parents. It does no good for them to have people staring at them and giving them dirty looks. On the other hand, some parents just ignore their kids behaviour, and let them cry and whine...that's a different case! As long as the parents are trying to do something about it, my heart goes out to them because I've been there and understand it's hard sometimes!

I just give them looks or maybe mention it to my waiter but other than that, I don't do anything. It's very annoying though...they should have some consideration towards the other customers. They should either get a babysitter, get the food to-go, or go somewhere that's already loud and they'll know will have lots of kids there...to go to a quiet restaurant and let your kid act like a lunatic is rude.

I agree with you. If their kid doesn't behave then they shouldn't bring their kids to a restraunt at all.

Hi spiderlizard22,
After all it is a kid.Kids do cry or make noise and some times naughty also. They do not understand where they are. They know only one thing, that is to enjoy or to be adamant in asking what they want.I enjoy those things.I am sure even I would have behaved like that in my younger age.Let us bear it.It may take few minutes or till we leave that place.
Good Luck.

I try to have some compassion for the other parent. I know what it's like to not be able to dump your kid off at a random babysitter, and some times kids just act up. My daughter is well behaved in restraunts, but that's because her mouth is full of food.
I can't help but become annoyed sometimes, but it's completely pointless to become angry over it.

and I wasn't aware that giving looks was a proper way to handle a situation...I've always thought that it was rude and inconsiderate and I'd rather hear a screaming child than deal with someone giving rude looks.

That's happened to me probably hundreds of times! I usually try to be patient and understanding if it's a very young child or baby and if the parents are trying to keep the situation under control, but when the parents, or whoever the adult present is, just ignores the child's actions and lets him or her disturb everyone else there it really does irritate me. The most I ever do is maybe give a "look" or two but my husband will make comments out loud like "Give the kid a soda, already!" (if that's what the kid was screaming about, for instance). I love kids bug I think parents should respect others and either teach their children how to behave in public or not take them into a restaurant if they're too young to do so.
