Do you have a NEW YEARS RITUAL?....a resolution perhaps?

We have a tradition in my family which I don't know how far back it started but I've gotten used to the preparation of having at least 13 different types of round fruits for new year. It must have come from the Chinese about the round and numbers that go up. I recall my late grandmother who made sure to wear something with big circles in them so it symbolizes money. We also have another tradition of throwing coins in every corner of our house for good luck and also for good fortune in the upcoming year. Anything to do with circles symbolizes money and good fortune, from the way I'd come to understand it. Come to think of the preparations that my family do, I now wonder what the rest of the world does for their new year's preparation. What kind of tradition do you have?

Every new year me and my friends have a little get together and go out to celebrate. We have our own fireworks at midnight. =)

Actually it is so close but still don't know what I will be doing and usually I have already thought about it at least but don't know why I have not I guess sometimes we just get caught up with other things. I don't know why but like I had hoped I had planned it but I guess there is always next year to plan also as well.

Well, there is nothing that I am doing religiously on the beginning of a new year all these years, just that I do talk with God & ask him to be kind to me! My father visits the temple on the first day of new year & offers his prayers to the Gods. I think I should start doing something very relevant to mark the beginning of a new year, what should I do.. I am still thinking..

My traditions are simple but not nearly as neat as yours. I just gather a bunch of friends in my house and we drink and have fun and play football in the snow(if we have any). I think going out of the old year and into the new year with laughter and fun moments is good for the soul and good luck for the year. Hasn't failed me yet.

I dont know if you want to call it a ritual. But we do the same thing every year. New years eve we rent movies and order pizza. And we watch the ball drop of course. We usually have a little to drink. But we wont be drinking this year. (due to the fact that im pregnant and my husband needs to be sober to drive). On new years day we always had a big lunch together. We have spare ribs to eat and sauerkraut. I absolutely hate sauerkraut but its a "tradition." So i would feel bad if i didnt do it.
