Holidays are over: How much weight did you gain?

Now that Thanksgiving and Christmas is behind us and a ton of parties and social events, did you find that you ate more than usual, more sweets, more rich food, etc? And did you put on a few pounds as a result in eating all the goodies? How much weight did you gain? I have to say I did really good this year. I didn't go to a lot of parties so didn't have to worry about a lot of extra calories. So far, I'm finding my clothes still fit the way they should and I don't notice any extra weight at all. How about you?

I really tried to watch my snacking this holiday season. I have put some pounds on this past year, so I was really trying to not gain any more over the holidays. I will be starting a diet after the first of the year to try to loose what I had gained over this past year. Exercise is starting soon too.

Good for you. : ) Once I started walking my dog, even in winter (although much less in REALLY cold weather), I noticed that I not only lost more weight, but I felt more energized. I walk my dog about a mile a day, unless it is freezing. And the mile is broken up in 3 walking times, which my doctor said is fine, as long as I get the walking in.

I bet you are right about the walking the dog. I use to walk my dog every night the summer before last and I was able to keep my weight right where I wanted it. this summer we were so busy running here and there with the kids we didn't get out walks in and this is when I started to gain little by little. I should start taking my dog out in the winter too....great idea!

I did gain weight but not too much. However, I feel I'm not healthy anymore having eaten too much meat and sweets. I have my blood sugar checked and had an X-ray last Dec. 23 and I'm so glad they're all normal. Yesterday I went to the hospital to have my cholesterol checked but I have to get results this afternoon. I hope it will still be normal.

Good luck on that. Mine was high last time I had it checked. I guess I'll be in trouble if it hasn't gone down when I go back. Grrr.

Well believe it or not, I finally got serious around the first of November and decided the weight has to come off again. (a few years back I lost 50 pounds, but have slowly gained them back!)From Nov 1st until today (Jan 5th), I have lost 20 pounds! It was very hard sticking to my new lifestyle (I don't use the term 'diet'...it is a healthy lifestyle!) during the holidays but I managed! I treated myself to a recumbent bike and it has really helped. I have it sitting right in the middle of the den floor. I hop on the seat and pedal while I watch TV !!

My regular clothes haven't fit for almost 3 years now due to baby havings! lol. I regrettably have began to admit that i will never fit back into those itty bitty little size 3 jeans ever again!! That's okay though, It's aLL worth it in the end. I loves my baby, and if i wanted to look like a rake again, i'm sure some day with lots of excersize, and carefull eating habits, i could. . IF i really wanted to. yea.. thats it :)

Yes, we can't forget the New Year celebration. I imagine a lot of people will have a party to celebrate, if just a church party or even an office party.

Over the holidays I decided to stop my diet and just eat all the yummy holiday stuff around. I ended up losing 3 pounds in the process, go figure.

For the first time ever I haven't gained a single pound - thank goodness!! I had a quiet Christmas, didn't go out much and exercised some self control for a change when it came to sweets and things like that. So this will be the first January ever where I'm not trying to lose weight which makes a welcome change.

Hi, friend, the scale said I lost from four to six pounds, let's just say 5 pounds. No secret. I ate what I wanted. Well, I have been drinking an energy drink and taking liquid vitamins, and drinking green tea. We will see if that loss holds on, though. It is good when the clothing still fits. Actually the reason I weighed is because a pair of jeans that was tight when I bought them now slides up and down while still buttoned and zipped. The looseness feels pretty good.

I didn't put on any extra pounds. I just ate like I usually do. I didn't have many sweets either. We had lots of places to go but I just tried to only eat a little bit at each place but that's how I usually do.

I actually think I did alright. We were so busy Christmas day running around that I only ate a little at each place. Plus when I'm full of business, I don't get as hungry. I may have gained a few, but I've also been trying to cut back on days outside of visiting with friends. I will start exercising this new year! I really need to.

I knew that this year I couldnt gain some weight during christmas time because I have to watch waht I eat since I suffer from pregnancy diabetes. It was hard not eating everything I want, but I was for a good cause :P But the holidays are not over. I still have 3 parties for the new year :P

I have to say I actually lost weight this holiday season. I was sick for a few weeks in November and I lost about 10 pounds. I am feeling better now, but I will hopefully keep the weight off. Of course we are going to 3 parties between now and New Years so I'll try to stay away from the food table....

I ate way too much. My step mom made all these rich sweets. Fudge, pumpkin rolls, candy and all kinds of things. Probably gained 20 pounds. Now I gotta starve myself lol.

We didn't have any parties, just the usual family dinners. I haven't noticed any difference in my clothes though...and I have eaten a ton of cookies and brownies! S/o's been gaining weight like crazy of the past few months (15-20 pounds last he checked) so I'm sure he's got a few extra holiday pounds but he probably would have gained them anyway.

Strangely enough I didn't eat half as much as I usually do through past Christmases where I have just been a total gannet pigging out on crisps, nuts and biscuits, this year for some reason I just didn't fancy them, and I actually sat and ate FRUIT! I didn't have the appetite, but I certainly enjoyed mum's Christmas roast dinner. I haven't weighed myself admittedly but my clothes are no tighter.

Ate way too much, but I didn't gain any weight. I actually lost some weight, haha. Just thought I'd throw this out there since too many people worry about eating too much during this season. It's kind of silly really, seeing people worry about what they eat between Christmas and New Year's when really they should be worrying about what they eat between New Year's and Christmas.
