Just came across this one in my reviews. I was floored at this one. A kid was supposed to get a Playstation 3 for Christmas, but when he and his family opened the package... he got the new Phonebook-station...uh...3? Seriously, it was just a phonebook inside. -_-

For the record, this transaction was with EB-Games(Electronic Boutique). Just making sure that gets out there. And this is definitely something people should consider not just with them, but with transactions in general.
One good point was the teen's more mature reaction compared to more recent examples of teen/young adult..."behavior".
How would you react if this happened to your child or you yourself. I'd be "irritated" to put it in a civil manner.

I heard a little bit of this story on the news, though I was unable to see what this person got instead of the PS3 game system until now. I would be beyond PO'd if this happened to me. Something similar did happen to me, though it wasn't nowhere near as costly as a game system. I had bought a DVD movie at Wal-Mart and when I got home I opened it up and there was no DVD inside the container! I went back there the same day pretty PO'd. I went to customer service with my receipt and empty DVD container in my hand. I told the lady there what happened and in the end I got another DVD, and yes the movie was actually in the container this time. :P

I would have been irritated or "irritated" as I've said. So far I've not had anything even remotely like the PS3 incident or your DVD incident in a long time Sacmom. I'm thinking I've become a bit complacent, I'll be watching sites and vendors a bit more carefully.

This is why, no matter who you are buying from, you need to check all credentials of the site, they seller (if separate) look for guarantees on the merchandise. How is it being shipped and where from. And most of all it is always safest to buy from a place that accepts paypal, that way you save your information from identity theft, and you also have a backup if something goes wrong in the shipping, or you are frauded, like in this situation.

That is right. I saw that the first time. Since EBgames is such a reputable company I know that they have unwittingly hired some unscrupulous character along the way. If they are smart they will do some sort of public apology and track down who could have done such a thing.

Naturally and I do this all the time. What really stands out in this case though is the vendor (EBgames). That's going to leave a mark for them that may not go away.

I think that is awful, but the teen took it in stride and as the article says, it has been taken care of...I would have been really upset if that happened to me...
