The lady with all these dogs reached an agreement with the city yesterday 2 hours before it was to go before the Municipal Environmental Court. She will keep 3 dogs of her choice AFTER they are spayed or neutered, her son who lives in another state will get one dog, 9 people have come forward and proved ownership of their dogs and will get them back AFTER they are spayed or neutered. The others will be spread out to various other animal shelters. They are no longer taking applications to adopt as they already have over 200. The dogs will all be spayed or neutered before adoptions.
The lady did agree to pay 8,500.00 to the city which will go towards the cost and care of the boarding and caring of the animals. The other owners will pay for the cost of boarding for their dogs as according to the agreement.
The lady seems really pleased with the "behind closed door" meeting. The city said they will not fine her.
Just thought I would let all of you who are concerned about this story know the latest and probably the final update on this situation.

Oh yes, that is exactly what I am saying!!! She had them all in her house if you can believe that. It happened here in Corpus Christi,Tx. The lady was breeding the dogs to sell and was too picky on who she sold them to and ended up with way way way too many. Some worker come around to do some work and smelled something horrible and called in to make a report. I dont see how the neighbors didn't hear the dogs. I am not sure how close her nearest neighbor was but with that many you don't have to be too close to hear all the yapping. The dogs are all pure bred, unless something happened without her knowing. She said she knows all the dogs names and said she can tell you most of their's birthdays. Unbelievable huh? Oh yes, the lady is 72 years old, a nice looking lady that is well kept herself.

Sounds like a good agreement. So many times people love animals but dont know that they cant take care of all of them. I just hope that the new owners will take care of them.

I agree jillmalitz and I think this just got out of her hands and she didn't know what to do. She was too picky about who she sold puppies to and of course they grew up and more and more were born.
I have adopted pound puppies from the shelter here before and they do their best to make sure the animals go to good homes.
