NO Only if an animal bites should it be classified as a dangerous dog and only under certain situtions. An animal protecting its home or family whether they are home or not should not be considered a dangerous dog. That is what an animal is suppost to be a protection and pet for home and family. Yes people should be check to see if they have tendancies to make the dog vicious.

mmmm dangerous dogs or dangerous owners, now there is a question. I do think certain people should not be allowed to keep dogs of any sort. A Rottweiler is a powerful dog and any pottential owner should be checked most carefully
blessed be

Any dog should be classified as potentially dangerous. It's biased to put down rotties, dobies and pits under the 'violent' dog category because people are scared of them.
Every dog should be labeled as potentially violent. If you're going to blame one, blame all dogs for attacks. Any dog can be violent if provoked.

Rottweilers were initially bred as cattle dogs. They were a working dog. As with other cattle dogs, they can be agressive. However, my experience with Rott's have been that they are very protective of their property, very protective of their humans, but generally good natured dogs. Yes they can be dangerous if not trained properly. That goes for any animal though. I have seen Parrots that will attack people. Should those be classified as dangerous? Maybe... actually, probably. they can snap the bones in a hand with their beak with little or no effort.
I think there are certain breeds where potential owners should have some training on how to properly train the animal.
But then again, I have seen Chihuahua's that were downright vicious!! They may be small, but their bite still hurts.
I have also had contact with some Pit Bulls. Mind you, these were the most well mannered, lovingest dogs I have ever seen. They were intelligent and strong. They were actually used as wheelchair dogs, that would push the chair, rather than pull, with their shoulders. They were great dogs. Not a mean bone in their body.
It all boils down to the owner. If a person is uneducated in how to properly train an animal, bad things can happen.

Thanks for your reply. I agree with you there are other animals that are equally if not more dangerous than the Rottweiler. I just think that for some animals there should be a law that says that a person cannot have one until they have recieved the appropriate training.

Excellent topic. I agree that it isn't so much dangerous dogs; it's uneducated, or dangerous owners. It is sad that some dogs can be made to become vicious and have the need to be put down. Perhaps a mandatory spay/neuter law? Any ideas?

Yes I agree with you there as it is getting to dangerous now
But again it is the owner that train them I mean it never used to be so bad with them so what has gone wrong
I have come across a couple of Rottweilers that where as soft as anything but I would never trust one now
What has gone wrong why have they turned like that

I dont think so it depends on how they were raised. I have 3 and they are like Teddy Bears.

No. There should not even be a dangerous dog act. They are sweet natured when they are born. There should be a ficious dog act for people instead. Don't ban the breeds Ban the bad dog owners from having dogs period.
