Who will notify your mylot pals if something should happen to you?

I don't know if this has been asked before. I didn't know how to search to see if it had been discussed. I put this discussion in life, because who in the world has death as something in their interest profile? Uh, never mind, nobody answer that, LOL.
If something were to happen to me, I know my parents would notify my good friend who happened to introduce to mylot. I believe she would, and I know she would if I asked her, to notify people here. No, I don't plan on dying soon, but things happen.
So if you passed on, or had to stay in the hospital after a wreck or something for weeks, who would let your mylot friends know what happened?

nobody I guess. my husband doesn't know my password for emails or mylot, my blogs or even to my shop online. I think my close friends will notice my disappearance after a while, that's all about it. it's great you have a friend who can do that on your behalf.

LOL yea it's kinda the opposite for me. I have friends in yahoo groups and people I have talked with for the last 3 yrs LOL whereas here on mylot I kinda just keep to myself. I had problems with some people in yahoo groups before so I think I just stick my self because of it.
Hugs,

I really don't know although I have thought about it. S/o doesn't have any of my passwords and I prefer to keep it that way (not that I'm hiding anything, I'd just like to preserve the last little bit of privacy I have) so if something sudden happened to me I guess no one would tell you unless I was in a position to give out my passwords.

I couldn't do without my password book which is just a address book really that I use to put all the sites and places I have joined. Otherwise I would forget. Which is the reason for it I have a terrible memory sometimes. So I have to have my handy dandy address book. I don't let others into it but if they looked good enough it is easy to find since I need access to it regularly.

I'm hoping my husband would notify my friends and fellow mylotters as he is the only one that knows about this place. And since signing up with his own account a day or two ago he could do just that, IF something were to happen to me, though I'm not sure if he would actually do it. It would be nice if he did as I wouldn't want the people here to think I just fell of the end of the earth! :P I'll have to talk to him and see if he'd be willing to do this. Thanks for bringing it up. :)

Thats a great question Pam. I never really thought about this. There are several friends I would have a need to know if something had happened to them, including you my friend. I pray that nothing bad does happen. I'm not sure who would let my friends here at mylot know if something did happen to me, maybe my son would, he knows how much I like mylot.
Happy New Year for the best 2008.

Hey Ambie, very good dsicussion. I don't know f you read my mind, but I was thinking about this. Not that I wanted to put it like a discussion, I was just thinking. But i am glad you put your thoughts here. If something would happend to me, I will be glad if someone would let to know people here, but actually I don't know who that would be. My fiancee know about it, that I am memebr here, but probably don't know whole name of the site and how it si working here.

I'm not sure there are too many myLotters who will miss me if I am not around. I don't know many mylotters personally. So, I don't think I will be missed and even if I will be, there will be no one who can notify them about what's happening. They'll just have to wait for me to get back (or not get back) and then find out what happened then.
I've been gone from myLot for short periods and long periods in the past one year and no one even noticed...lol

I bet people noticed, they just didn't know what to do about it. Some of my mylot friends have been gone for long periods of time, but I'm not certain how to get in touch with them. I assume since they haven't been on mylot, they wouldn't even check their message page where we can leave comments.

Interesting that you mention this as I have thought about it before. My husband has no clue about myLot and wouldn't have any interest in learning. Our kids aren't members either and I have no personal friends that are members. The only people I know on here are myLot friends and don't have any of their email addresses. Might not be a bad idea to get a group of several members who are willing to share their email addresses just as a precaution for a friend who has an emergency. Thanks for the interesting discussion.
Have a healthy and happy new year,
carolbee

I doubt anyone as no one really knows I do myLot. However they do know I am on the pc a lot so they might come and check it out and let people know.. gee maybe I should write it in my Will. Should I ? :)

I really don't know how to quite answer this. I mean yes, of course I have friends, but they wouldn't know all the "hang outs", not just here, to contact any of my on-line friends to let them know anything happened to me. I'm actually going through a rough time trying to track a friend myself--this is a person I know in my "real-life" and often email also...you can see what I mean here as I discussed this very thing. Its my response #6

As you can see I've been in quite a dilemma trying to figure out what the heck happened to my friend

Hi AmbiePam, Now that's something I've never thought about. I don't suppose anyone would, but it's probably something we should all look at arranging with someone. I do feel that I have many good friends here. Thanks for the thought. Blessings.

Well Pam I have thought over this many times. Its not that I think that vary many people would miss me anywhere, but you know its human ego to let everyone know that you are no more amongst them and to hope against hope that someone somewhere would miss you. Its pure indulgence in self-importance but on the practical side people may think you rude if you suddenly disappear one day and they write to you and you never reply back! So I would want my son to make an announcement on Mylot to that effect but I have not downloaded all the info to him yet. He is very inquisitive (like all kids) and I wouldn’t want him messing with my accounts and password. So I am waiting for him to grow up a little more and then I will pass on this somber piece of info to him with proper instructions as to how it should be done so that he doesn’t goof it up.

Ya know this is something I often wonder about actually..not just when it comes to Mylot but all of my online friends like at Facebook, other forums and here....I think my son or my husband would think of it or my gf back home would eventually think of it and join to let ppl know or get into my email and send a mass email etc but I can't say for sure that would happen....

That is a very interesting question. I would say that if something were to happen to me where I was no longer able to come on Mylot, I would not want my friends to be sad, so I would not want them to know.
I would rather that they be mad at me for abandoning them, than for them to be sad. There are a lot of friends that have left Mylot since I have joined. I try to think of the most positive reasons possible. Like they got a real job or just don't have time for this anymore. I hate the thought of one of them dying or being seriously injured.
I really don't know how I would react, since I have never had these kinds of friendships before. I know that some of my friends like Teapot mom have been my friend since I first started and I look forward to her responses and topics. Also, I love Maddy's Mommy, so I would really miss her if she left.

Well if something happened to me.. I suppose my spouse would notify all my friends. That and well my really good friends from here I have their numbers stored in my phone. So if need be they can be called and informed of what was going on with me. I don't really worry about it though.. I know if something happened.. they'd know.

You know what, we must be on the same wave length, I kind of was thinking about this myself. If something was to happen, I would probably have my daughter go to my yahoo mail and mail everyone there and to tell them if they are friends with on another site like mylot, to tell them what happened. I think on every site I have at least one friend who is in my yahoo, so I believe that is how mylot friends would know..
