Do you donate your old clothing, give to a friend or relative or throw in the trash?
I donate everything that doesn't fit or is taking up space in my closet to an organization that is very meaningful in my life. I was adopted as a small baby and the organization that basically housed me for the first 3 weeks of my life accepts money donations or clothing and small, working appliances. It's important to me that I give back to the organization where I had my beginning.

I donate things to the eplispsy foundation. They come once a month and pick it up at your curb. All you have to do is bag it and put the green tag on it that they provide. It's so easy that way to get rid of things when you know someone else can use it.

When i was younger we pass our old clothes to the younger sister. But nowadays we know people who lived in a country where people are poor so we donate the clothes to them and they will bring it to their country or it will be brought to some thirld world country.I think that's the best way to do it instead of just trhowing it away. Most of the clothes are in a good shape so others could wear it.

I donate to Goodwill as I am fortunate to have one in the shopping plaza down the street. My closet is looking quite empty as a matter of fact. I just cleaned out more stuff that I don't wear or wear only as a last resort. When I donate, I occasionally go poke around the store and find something useful. I throw out the stuff that I consider not good enough to wear. I understand the dumpsters at the donation places are overloaded with junk people bring over. Do people think that folks in need like to wear torn spotted clothing?

Hello dear carolbee. I usually give my clothes to my young brother-in-law, who is not picky and would wear it to work. I am happy that my clothes can have somewhere to go.
You are a very nice carol bee as to know how to repay the society or the organization because of your being adopted and taken good care of by and in the organization. I admire you for your being so nice a person.
You see, nowadays there are quite some kids who are unfriendly to their parents, treating them unfairly instead of being grateful to their parents in return when they grow up. So I have to say that you are a very good example to those kinds of kids. Thanks for being so good a carol bee. By the way, I love your username. Carol bee.

Thanks williamjisir. I kind of like the user name. I do think I owe something to the organization who initially took care of me at birth. I was placed in a good home and raised by a good family and owe it to the organization and the attorney who handled the adoption. Giving them clothing is the least I can do. Thanks for responding.

I usually wear out most of my clothing. When its so worn I use them as scraps for cleaning. If it is still in good shape I donate it to the SPCA thrift store.
Thats really amasing that you adopted a baby. My aunt adopted a child from Nepal 3 years ago. Where did you adopt your baby from?

I didn't adopt a child. Gave birth to 3 daughter's. It was a rough time when I was a teenager.
The situation was better that I was adopted and made another family happy. My biological mother was only 14 when she became pregnant. Smarter to give me up as a baby than to keep me. Some day guess I'll write a book. Have had it on my mind alot lately as I begin to age.

Thats awesome! The rag thing is a great way to reuse items. We're all about not wasting anything at my house. Hehe.. although my mom jokes it the Cheap Scots in us.
I think its great that you yourself were adopted and now adopted a child. Its a great way to give back. There are so many children out there who need caring homes. I really respect that you took on the challenge. It will also be good for your child because you can really relate.
I don't mean to pry but I was wondering what your thoughts on being an adopted child are? My friend's mother gave up a baby for adoption a long time ago because she was a teenager when she had the baby. My friend always wonders what her "sister" is going through and if she is okay, etc.

I usually donate my items. I am saving my son's clothing in case we have another baby or he has a cousin who will use it (right now he is cousin free...but should that change...). Everything up till recently was donated when we move. I have given to a wide variety of organizations. I also shop at second hand stores. I love finding great deals on clothes and the fact that it helps someone else is great as well!

Donating cloths to those people who are in need is a good thing. I donated my old and unfit clothes to one orphanage. Children in many ages are in need of it. So I also donated my children's clothes too.

I always make sure I give away all the old clothing, bedsheets, blankets etc to my servants at home.I see to it that they are in good condition all washed and ironed before I give them away.Every now and then I keep cleaning our cupboards so that I can give away the things we dont use.Its really nice of you to give it to the organization.

Well its a very nice practice to give away old clothings to someone who really needs it. I too do not put my ld clothes in to trash but try to find or look for a person around, who can make it to his or her use. I have given my old coats & pants to my office servant, I also gave away my jacket to my one of my employee.

I hate it when my cabinets get cramped full, so every year around Christmas time I give away my old clothes to our maids. They in turn give it to their relatives in the province. I like having free space in my cabinets.

We donate all our old clothes, books and toys to Goodwill. They are only two blocks from our house so it is easy and convenient. We also shop there alot.I always look there first when we need something. If I can not find it used then I will consider buying it new.

I usually donate old clothing to the Salvation Army Family Store, which is just next to my house. Also, I give to one charity organization. This organization is mainly based for Sri Lanka. They pack, parcel and send clothes from Singapore to Sri Lanka. Sometimes, I don't only donate old clothes but also brand new towels, utensils, clothes, shoes, etc....By doing this I get so much happiness.
