I want to try lobster I have heard that it taste very good. But, I just watched a program on tv and the host said that lobsters were nothing other than a big cockroach. YUCK!!! He said that they were crustations and so are cockroaches. Now I can't see myself ever eating them.

It's possible that what the host was trying to convey was not that the lobster is actually a roach, but that lobsters (along with other shellfish) are very much like insects that live in the ocean. Don't let the idea bother you, they're VERY good, just don't over cook them.
Out of curiosity, was the host Alton Brown? If so, then it truly was the whole "more like insects than animals" arguement he was making.

I don't remember his name. He is the host on good eats. He wasn't saying that lobsters were disgusting or anything. He was just saying that lobsters are related to the roach.

Yeah, it was Alton Brown. I've seen that episode. He doesn't say they're related, he just pointed out that lobsters (and a lot of other shellfish) are physiologically more like roaches (and other insects) than animals. It's the way I've always thought of them, myself. I don't know any animals with antennae, for starters -- only insects. Though they have 8 legs instead of 6, so maybe an aquatic cross between spiders and insects is closer to what they are. but they're not actually related to any insects.

Hello dear barbiegirl. Well, there are different kinds of lobsters. If it comes from the sea, I think that it is safe to eat, but if it comes from the pond, I am also scared to eat. In fact, I have never eaten a lobster from a pond. Because I once saw people fishing lobsters in very dirty places as lobsters love to live in them. I think that it is dangerous to eat this kind of lobsters. Besides, my doctor friend told me that it is some germs and it will make some people allergic to them in their skin. I am glad that I do not eat the lobster, but I have to stress that I love shrimps very much, which contain rich zinc, good to our health.

That's a very spurious claim. It's only his opinion. They're wonderful food and you're missing out on a treat listening to this silly host. Try it!

Hi,
Lobster is really tasty if it is well receipted and cooked moreover I hope it is the shape that makes one a bit hesitated. I used to eat lobster before now I am pure vegetarian. Still if it served in another way by taking those meat from it I hope your afraid could be bit away. May be if we get those Mutton, Beefs, Chicken, or any other meats served as in the shape of those animals I too get bit hesitated to eat it.

whoever said that they were like cockroaches is talking a lot of bull since they don't even belong in the same species. anyway, lobster is great. it's my favorite food. I would eat it all the time if i could, especially with butter. yumm!!!

That reminds me of Wal-Mart employees, who tend to get very sensationalist and paranoid and angry at the world because they find out some inconsequential detail like that lobsters are part of the arthropod family, and therefore God will rain down a plague of locusts on them or something if anybody on Earth eats a lobster.

Cockroaches can grow almost as big as a small lobster and they can be roasted on a stick. Be careful not to over cook them as they have a tendancy to burn. I like mine brushed with soya sauce and dipped in Brown Gravy. Enjoy!

Lobster is excellent. Maybe the TV host is so unrefined he doesn't get it. Or maybe he's so broke and blamey he's got to justify other reasons why he can't have any. Okay somewhat sarcastic but still some truth to it.
Lobster is fine, with melted butter and a little seasoning of your choice.
