A big storm is hitting here in northern California tomorrow.

According to the weather service we should be getting 3-6 inches of rain by the end of the weekend, and the winds will probably be up to at least 50 mph. I'm getting emergency supplies together just in case. My biggest worry is the huge tree in the front of the house. I hope that it stays put and doesn't get blown over. And I'm also worried about power outages...they are fully expecting them to happen all over the place. So if you don't see me online over the weekend, that's the reason why.

Have a friend north of Sacramento and she was telling me about it today. She's also worried. Hope you are safe and no damage to anything around you. Take care and be safe.

That's where I am is about an hour north of Sacramento. I guess it's supposed to hit pretty far down the Sacramento valley, and up into the mountains. Should be interesting this weekend. Thanks so much hon.

I'll be thinking about you and my good friend in your part of the country. Prayers are warranted for this one. I will keep the news on this weekend and listen carefully.

I'm in SO CA too, foot of mountains. Supposed to hit us tomorrow mid morning or so. Supposed to be alot of rain. After those rains, the biggest concern is flooding and mud slides. We are either fry'n or slide'n!

I LOVE rain... I couldn't be where I am if I didn't, and I can watch rain storms for hours. Its the wind that gets me... we don't have big trees, and the smaller ones in the yard get a good pruning in a windstorm, but losing the power is something I really hate... I don't like to feel that helpless!

Yeah it is! I like the rain tho, That sound is so comforting - okay, not the big storms, but still, I love the sounds it all makes! I am from Odessa texas which is out int he middle of nowhere (Okay, it is just the other side of No Tress, Texas and yes, that is really a town!) and we'dsit on the patio and just watch the tornedos touch down over in Goldsmith and listen to the thunder and watch that amazing lightening. My grand daughter and I have a traditio - we take walks in the rain with umbrellas and just enjoy the show! Don't like the damage it can do, but rain is rain is rain!

There was a lot of newcasts about that hurricane here. I just can't imagine going through that. This storm here was enough for me, that's for sure. As you can see, I'm back safe and sound, although maybe a bit frazzled from the wind and the stress over my poor doggies that I couldn't let in the house (they have a habit of killing kitties, and I have several inside). But all turned out well. Thanks so much hon.

Protective energies to you and your neighbors! Keep us posted on how you're doing... if you can. We're having some nasty weather today... no snow but it's bitterly cold with high winds. Fortunately, the cable modem hasn't been affected. Yet. All appendages crossed, for us both!

Thank you hon. The snow levels won't get even close to where I am, but it still won't be that far away either. Brrrrrrr! It's so cold I've had to turn the heat up TWICE! I will check in every day that I can, I promise. Hugs!

Hello my dear friend. Good to see you back with us. In spite of hubby having to do full repairs to the back fence to keep the dogs from going into the neighbor's yard (neighbor wasn't home) when we got home from my appointment, and the power outage being a major irritation, things are fairly back to somewhat normal. Still have to do something about the neighbor's pine tree that is draped over our back fence though. Hopefully he will get his butt out in his yard tomorrow and get it taken care of. LOL! Thanks hon. Hugs!

Wonder where all that rain was at when all the wildfires were destroying houses and woodlands this past summer. Anyways, from what I've read, you guys could really use the rain so hope nothing bad happens to you and your family during the storm, Kat.

That rain would have definitely come in handy during those fires I'm sure. And we really do need the rain. The local news channel was showing one of the nearby lakes and the water level is so low that they had to bring in dirt to extend the bottom most boat ramp in case emergency crews needed to head out on the water. Even with all the rain we got, the rivers are still really low right now. I just wish we didn't have to get all the needed water in one weekend! LOL! Thanks hon.

With all the snow we got that will be melting this weekend plus the rain we will be getting on top of it, I'm pretty sure the Kankakee River will be spilling its banks by Monday. Gladly give ya some of ours. lol I know what you mean by getting it all at once. Mother Nature should give us a good soaking one day a week instead of drying us up and then dumping a river on us. lol

Here is it several hours later and the storm is in full force here in Northern California. I can hear the winds howling outside pretty good as I type this. I hope the power does not go out because the family and I rely on air cleaners to sleep through the night, plus our kids like a little night light and they have a hard time sleeping when the rooms are pitch black. To top it off, we have a septic tank and if the power goes off, well, there goes the toilet. Yuck! :P If my fellow mylotters don't hear from me in the next few days it's because my power went out...

I hope you and your family made it through the storm ok. I had to go to UC Davis for my appointment today, and at that point the winds had finally calmed down. I couldn't believe all the trees that were split down the center from the wind blowing them around. It was the same way here too. Just too scary for me! Let me know you're ok hon, please.

Yeah we're getting ready for round 3 or 4? now I've lost track! After it hits you down there it makes its way up here. We had SNOW last night after the wind stopped. About 2 inches, enough for the kids to make snowmen before it melted. Right now it's strangely calm out there.....#:0

That calm is kinda scary isn't it? It's actually sunny out today, but it's cold. The weatherman said that another storm should hit tonight, but it won't be even close to what the other one was. Stay safe and warm hon.

We're bracing for the same storm down here. Fortunately, where I live, it really won't impact us that much other than possibly wet feet and some minor flooding in the streets. Hopefully, I can keep my feet dry because I really don't want mildewed tennis shoes again. Maybe I'll look for my hiking boots to wear tomorrow and Saturday. I pray that the storm won't be too bad for you, especially the power outages because it's colder up there than where I am in L.A. I have a feeling it's going to get pretty cool here but it's unlikely that I'll lose power where I am and I'll have heat. I just hope you have lots of heavy blankets to keep you warm.

Actually we are really lucky in that aspect. The heat and the electricity come from two different companies. So when the electricity goes out, we can still use the gas heater and the gas stove/oven. It was pretty freaky here all day long. You wouldn't believe how many of the town's huge historical oak trees were either partially or completely knocked down. I didn't see any homes that were destroyed from them, so that's a good thing. I'm glad you don't have to deal with it so much where you are. Less stress that way. Hugs!

Some places here are worse than others, that's for sure. It hasn't been this bad where I'm at for a few years now, so we were due for a whopper. It was a bit scary, as I kept thinking that the wind was going to blow my windows to pieces. But they held up. Can't say the same for the fences though. Nor for the neighbor's big pine tree which is now laying over the fence half way into our back yard. Fortunately, it missed our boat by a few feet. Thank you so much my friend.

We had clear skies most of the day... I let the dogs out and admired the pink sunset on the mountain. When I let them back in, the sky was all gray, boiling clouds, and the wind and rain pounded us for several hours. It seems to be quieting down now... it was pretty intense! At least the power stayed on, though it blinked a few times. Hope yours passes through just as fast, IF it gets there at all!

Believe me, it got here alright! It was absolutely ICKY! I don't do well with storms. I'm such the big wuss. And we had to drive to my appointment in that wind too! Thankfully, hubby drove. I just closed my eyes and refused to watch. LOL!

We did have one wind storm several years ago that was nearly enjoyable... we were in Eastern Washington and luckily pulled into a roadside park just in time... we sat for half an hour watching sand and tumbleweeds flying by, then it just stopped, and we carried on with our trip in glorious sunshine! They say up here that, if you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes...!LOL!

All right if you are not here, we will know that your line is down, your cable is out, your dsl is gone kaput. If you upload a photo later on with you a few inches shorter we will know that the tree fell through the roof and squashed you down a few inches. If the tree is still there, we will know you will still be there. So hope that the weather does not turn out too bad and that the tree has deep enough roots.

ROFL! Thanks for the giggle hon. I needed it. I'll be sure to let you know if my height diminished or not because of the tree.
