The Snooze Button

So, after waking up this morning to my rather annoying alarm I rolled over and tapped the snooze button. Fifteen minutes later, when I actually decided to get out of bed, I did a little research on the topic of snooze buttons. Apparently, those extra minutes of sleep do NOTHING for you, because you never have time to re-enter REM (rapid eye movement) sleep, which is the part of sleeping that actually re-energizes you. So what about you? What are your thoughts on the snooze button? Do you use it, or are you the kind of person that can get up immediately?

Whether it does any good or not, sometimes that extra 9 minutes, 18 minutes, or however many times you can hit the snooze, feels good.
I've got to tell you about this alarm clock I found out about called "Clocky." You can read about it at
http://web.mit.edu/newsoffice/2005/clocky.html
You can find out more by just typing "clocky" in your search engine. You may never want to snooze again. LOL

Waking up is aprocess for me, so I definitely use the snooze button. It allows me the time to slowly get myself to waking up instead of instantly jumping to my feet or something like that. I guess it's not much of a surprise to know that there is really no benefit to it; it's not as much about the "extra" sleep as much as it's about being able to take my own time waking up. It's harder for me to get up and get my mind moving right away; the snooze allows me to gradually get into awake mode.

hmmmmmmm, me yes,im a kind of person can get up immediately, when the alarm start, because if im goin back to sleep for how many minute i wil have and headache for whole day. but dont tell me my hubby have this attitude, that even his alarm will explode he will not wake up. even me i try to wake him up but just one word he will say "Yes im already awake" but go back to him within 5 minutes only start again to snoore till he will feel that i become mad.

Well, I don't care. I like hitting the snooze button. It is like a guilty pleasure. I mean you feel bad after you do that, but it does feel so good. I usually hit the snooze button until the dog wakes me up.

I hate, hate, hate the snooze button!!!! My husband uses that damn thing all the time and it does no good. You are better of setting the clock five minutes later. Personally, I can turn the alarm off and either get up or lie in bed a few extra minutes and not fall back asleep. I realize not everyone (like my husband) is that way. Personally, I think alarms should not have snooze buttons on them at all.

I must admit that I too was guilty of the snooze button. So what I used to do was set my clock 20 minutes early so that I thought I was getting up on time and I got to sleep in. When in reality I was just getting up at my usual time but fooling my body into thinking it was having a sleep in.

I think snooze buttons are EVIL. So you get a couple mins extra sleep but I always feel WORSE and more groggy than if I just got up when supposed to. Then there is always the you hit it too many times and runs out of snoozes and you end up OVER SLEEPING!! always a bad thing. I think snooze buttons should be removed so it forces us to just get up!
