I would just like to know what your thoughts are on this..I know that in the bible they did drink wine, because at a wedding Jesus turned the water into wine..It also speaks in the bible about wine bibbers, does that mean that you are not to get drunk on much wine as the Bible says? or is it a sin to drink? Also about smoking..We all know that is is not good for our health for many reasons, but would you consider smoking a sin?it does say the body is the temple of God,and no bad thing will enter into heaven. So do you feel it is a sine to smoke? Or is it a weakness? Will it keep you from being saved and keep you from going to heaven???You may want to know why i am asking these questions...well the reason is I have been discussing this with a few people and we are like in a debate about these issues, ans i would like to know your idea's on the subject..This is not a judgement against smokers or drinkers, itis just a discussion so please be nice...I will be sharing your views with the group..Thank you

Yeah it is very unhealthy to smoke and drink. God will certainly forbid smoking and being intoxicated. I pray especially for smokers to be made healthy.

I see nothing with it, as long as they are not abused. I believe this has been practiced since, but not to the extent that people would continuously use it to slowly kill themselves.
Compare our times from the past, people's means of living are simple and complex. They don't have to deal with house bills, family problems, foods and other necessities that seem to overwhelm our minds. Maybe it could be of lack in faith at times, or that people are just looking for other ways to escape their miseries for a while.
These are just some of what I believe I know, though we all know that too much of everything can also be bad for us..

It says moderation in all things, The Lord is at hand. I am not a Baptist nor a Pentacostal and I know that many of them feel that they should not have any drink ever. I do not believe it is wrong to drink and that an occasional drink is all right. It will not bar your way from heaven. The only time it becomes a sin is if you drink to excess or if you know that one drink will lead to you over inbibing yourself and you get plastered.
I do not know about smoking, I do not do it, but I know that it is extremely addictive and for that reason, one should not start and should try to quit. So getting drunk is wrong, and if you do smoke, do not go for a pack a day and try to cut down. It is the excess that will get you into trouble.

I don't think smoking is a big deal unless you get all technical with the "treat your body like a temple" deal. Drinking is far more dangerous. It is wrong if it is not used in moderation or if you drink underage. The Bible suggests that you should follow the law governing you as long as it has God in it's best interest. Our government was founded by Christians.

Well i have to get technical, because i do feel that your body is the temple of God, unless of course your beliefs fall in another direction..Drinking is dangerous especially if you abuse drinking.I supposs moderation is the key to many things..

In my opinion a sin is a sin no matter how big or small. I think if God convics your heart of it and you do it anyway then that is the sin.

I have had the same debate with quite a few people. I feel like if you are being convicted of something, it is God telling you it is wrong. I also feel like everyone sins. There was only one perfect person that walked on this earth. That was Jesus Christ. He knew we would sin and that is why he paid the price for us. I also feel like God does not have a scale of what a sin is. To him a sin is a sin regardless of what it is. Now that is just my opinion. I know that smoking is a sin because it harms the body. But, so does eating to much. yes they did drink in the Bible. I don't think it is a sin. I don't think God wants you to get so drunk where you cant control yourself. Oh well that is just my opinion.

I would ask if it is good to drink or smoke. I think there is no explicit teaching that smoking is a sin or drinking is a sin. But we know that through our doctors that drinking or smoking is not good. They damage our health. So I would then say that we should not drink nor smoke.

Smoking is definitely wrong. But drinking can be allowable in moderation. Anything that is taken in excess is really bad for health. It affects not only our physical but also psychological conditions. So don't smoke and drink excessively. It is for your own healthsake.

It's an individual's preference whether she should smoke or not, whether she should drink or no but one has to know the consequences that comes with it. I don't smoke or drink. I guess this has also something to do with my upbringing and the environment where I was while growing up. Nobody smokes at home. I do not see my mom or dad smoke. My dad drinks but he does not get to the point of being shamelessly drunk.
I don't feel the need to smoke or drink. Healthwise, I know it's not also good for me.

First off the Bible does not say you can't drink, it says it's wrong to get drunk (Romans 13:13). Just because you become a Christian does not mean you wake up one morning doing everything right. We cannot change anything about ourselves, we can only change what God convicts our hearts about (John 15:5). But if God convicts your heart that you shouldn't do somthing but you continue to do it then it is sin.

As you may / may not know I'm not a Christian so feeling it's wrong to smoke or drink through religion does not bother me! I do however think you should feel guilty for what you are putting your body through by using this stuff!

I honestly say that it is. I do feel wrong about those habits. I used to drink but not anymore, but I still smoking until know. Even I've heard about bad effect about smoking and drinking but maybe because a part of me likes it so I don't have any motivation to make myself to quit.
Maybe I didn't get pregnant maybe I would still drinking until know. But that baby save me. Once I gave up for drinks. I still enjoy drinking sometimes, but it wasn't like I heve to get a drink but just occasionally.
But for the smoking habit I found it kind hard to quit. There are times when I have thoughts about quiting but I guess it wasn't strong enough. I did tried to quit for several times but after a while I just found myself smoking again
If the question about feeling right or wrong..of course the answer must be wrong. But maybe the main reason made me still do it because I found it enjoyable.

of course it is wrong and it is a very bad habit also. it is not healthy in our body to drink and smoke as it harms our lungs when smoking and it can result to lung cancer
