i was also in the idea of creating my own website some years back....
but then i realized that i was not even successful with blogs and so starting a website would by no means profitable to me...and so gave up the idea...
best of luck to you...in your website..

Making the actual website itself is not that hard to do. It just requires that you know how to code. Making your website known to the world is another story....There are so many websites out there that your own website will get overshadowed. If you can get people to visit and maintain interest than you got yourself a successful website. If you want to learn how to build your own website and web pages, visit http://www.dohtml.blogspot.com

I suppose that depends on your definition of successful. You can build a site in under ten minutes using a website wizard, or you can work at the coding from scratch for days. Whih one is more successful though? I guess it depends on what you want from your site, if you just want a clear place to put a message across, then simple is good, if your aim is to handle large amounts of traffic then you have marketing considerations as well.

Hi! It's not hard to start a website - but to have a successful one is difficult!
I started my first website a year ago, now I have 3 - but I can't say that I don't have to work for a living like your first respondent!!! ;(

By all means it isn't a cakewalk, but at the same time, all it takes is time and dedication. If you are motivated enough, it can be done. Dedication and motivation beats skill level any day of the week.

It's certainly not too hard to create a website, but, as stated elsewhere it is not easy to make money from them.
The key is that the more visitors you attract to the website the more likely you are you make money through adverts or affliates or to sell goods.
I have some affliate sites and I am finding that I earn more money when people use the website to order items through the affliates that are unrelated to my site.

I am someone who can say I did it. I started back in 1996 and today have turned it into a corporation and don't have to work for a living.
It is hard work and no money at first but in the end it is most definately worth it.
Not only have I done it but my brother has done it as well.
All the best of luck to you.
If I can be of help please let me know
