question about the + & -

I dont know if the subject line makes sense but I have noticed in discussions on a persons response there is a + and a - to click... I assume this is positive and negitive feedback on that person but how do you know if you have been given a positive or negitive for your response? Is there a way to see?

Yes, the + and - are a way to rate the responses of other users. A quality, thoughtful response should be marked +, and negative is for when a person gives a response that does not really relate to the discussion topic. You can't tell if you got a + or - in any single response, but your overall rating will be reflected in your star, which you will get once you reach 100 posts. The number in the star is the rating, so if you get mostly + you will have a high number, 10 being the highest.

Thank you... I get it now :) hmmm now to get 100 posts up to get a star. So I guess that means if you get to 10 overall you have had positve feedback. Cool, thanks again :)

I don't think there's any way to see whether you have been given a positive or negative response...

Thanks, I suppose that is fair though as there may be people who dont want the person to know what they selected? Maybe that is the reason...

No, you cannot see if you have been given a positive or negative rating by other Mylot members. Once you have reached 100 points (pretty soon I see) you will get a star. The star has a number and when you place your mouse over it you will see your rating. It does not affect your earnings, it is just what members of mylot think of you, those who have rated you. Sadly, some members rate negative if they do not agree with the poster's opinion which really defeats the purpose of a discussion forum. Personally I never rate anybody negative if they don't agree with me.

Its the rating that you give for each comment on response from your discussions and its always expected here on mylot to give mylotters a + rating and refrain from giving the - rating coz it will surely affect yours in the future.

When you reach 100 posts you'll get a star. How high or low it is depends on how many + or - you have. The + and - also influence your interest levels to extents. **************************** How its supposed to work You make quality posts, discussions, responses, people will hit + and your star will go up If you make sickening, horrific or brutal postings, people will hit - and your star will go down ************************ And now... How the system REALLY works If you don't have an opinion or post fluffy stuff, people will hit + because you are "good" If you have an opinion, express the opinion, don't bandwagon, and post real things, people will hit - because they (can't debate, are "offended", or got defeated in an argument and they are gonna get you back -_-). Oh and its all anonymous, so anyone can hit - and you won't know who specifically did it unless they admit it. Isn't that nice? -_- THAT's the star system. **********************************

All has been said here, but I would just like to add that you should use these "features" wisely and be fair for others. The other feature was the "!" button, it is for reporting abusive and offensive members. Those who violates the guidelines and spam the community, so I suggest that you read and follow the guidelines as well. Welcome and goodluck posting, have a great day..

I didn't read the entire thread yet, only your post. Yes the + & - is to rate the person's thread or response. I don't believe you will see your rating until you reach 100 posts, when you'll receive a star with a number in it. So for you and your thread... a +! Have a great Sunday!
