My favorite movie is the Last Unicorn. It's an older movie, but still a goodie :) When I was a child I was afraid of the big red bull in the movie. But it sparked my love for unicorns. (i ever have a tattoo of a unicorn)
anyhow I just love the look of the movie, I love the feel of it, I love the way it makes you laugh and cry, you feel scared and relieved...and I love the moral of having no regrets and just living your life.
so your turn! what is your favorite movie and why?
ps I will vote for the best response after 7 days :)

I ABSOLUTELY love the movie, RENT. The movie is what inspired me to go see the play, which eventually snowballed itself into my obsessive love of everything Broadway.
I love everything about RENT. I love all the characters, the story line, everything that happens, all the tiny things, the music, absolutely everything. It makes me laugh, it makes me cry, it brings out ALL the feelings in me, and I LOVE it. :)

For some reason I feel like I have seen RENT, but then I can't really remember the movie very well...But it is one of those iconic movies that everyone knows the name hey! And even if you don't like musicals or broadway it's just one of those movies that you should see at some point in your life. I should go "rent" it again haha get it?? and make sure i do have this in my movies watched repertoire!!

there are so many films I love, and I would struggle to choose a real favourite.
If pushed, I would have to say The Rocky Horror Picture Show, as I love that musical so much, and if I'm feeling a bit down it never fails to cheer me up, have me dancing around the room singing and waving my boa. :D
have you read the book of the last unicorn, it's lovely. really charming. but the bit about the spider at the carnival was really sad.

I don't think the spider was in the film. or if she was it was only skimmed over. instead of the viewers being fooled, the spider had, to beleive she was the greatest weaver in the universe. and when the spells were broken, the spider was crying. it was a bit sad.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a film of a very very silly, fun, camp musical about alien transvestites. it's kind of hard to explain what it's about, but it's just really really fun.

I don't think you're thinking about the same movie I am.
There is a carnival in The Last Unicorn, but there is no spider. There is a "vulture" that is evil, the opposite end of the magic spectrum from the unicorn. And there is an old lion, a snake, and the evil female magician, mommy fortuna is her character's name, makes people believe that they are things they are not. For example...when regular people looked at the unicorn they only saw a white mare, unless they REALLY believed in unicorns, so when Mommy Fortuna captures the unicorn she put a fake horn on her with magic so people would know what she is...

My favorite movie is "The Notebook" which is adapted in the book written by Nicholas Sparks. It is a love story that definitely is a tear-jerker. I cried at the movies watching this and even at home when I bought a DVD. Every time I watch it, it just melts my heart.
What I learned about the movie is that , you can't easily hide what your heart feels and pretend that you're okay when you aren't.

Oh yes! One of my favs too. I remember watching it in the theatre and everyone was crying. Even the men were crying. And some people were actually sobbing and crying very loudly.
An amazing story...amazing emotions it stirs up in your soul. I just love a good love story! You know what. I need to buy this movie!

haha at first when I tell people my favorite movie I usually get the blank stare and "i don't know that movie" but then when I explain it, it all comes back to them! Yes it is an old movie...It was in theatres in 1989 I believe. Mia FArrow does one of the voices in the film..the band America does the soundtrack.
When the last lion roars over the last dusty fountain...la la la
I don't think I've seen the Princess Bride!

I love your answer! So complete! thanks for the reply.
The JAcket is another one of my boyfriend's favorite movies and he's made me watch it. And I really enjoyed it! So I think I would also enjoy Jacob's ladder (the originaly is always better usually).
I just discovered there is a cartoon version of Lord of the Rings that was made well before the amazing version we all know. One of my favorite trilogies. I don't know how the original could be better to be honest. i'll have to watch it today and let you know what I think of it.
Session 9 sounds familiar now that you've explained the story...I've seen so many movies they tend to blur together sometimes. Like "House on Haunted Hill" and "thirteen ghosts" that came out around the same time.
11:14 sounds like my kind of movie I'll have to look for it! Thanks a lot!

haha funny you should mention that movie! it's my boyfriend's favorite movie. I've seen it a billion times because of that reason! It is a REALLY good movie that a lot of people have forgotten about. If you are reading this and are in the mood for a slightly confusing, but touching and suspenseful movie check it out.

i have a lot of favorite movies. most of them belongs to horror and comedy with action genre.. but my most favorite and unforgettable is "Gone with the Wind", a 1939 Best Picture.
although it is neither horror or comedy, Gone with the Wind portrays a lot of moral lessons and realizations of life. however the storyline is about late 1800's but those lessons can apply in the next generations.
one moral lesson i have learn about Gone with the Wind that happiness does not based on what you possess or what you are. not all the things we want are things that we always gets. This a Story of Scarlet o' Hara. a girl that anything she wants will always gets and make some terrible decisions such as marrying a guy that she didn't really love at all if she knew that she cannot get what she wants...

The lost world - I don't think I've seen that one...
But of course Titanic! Another big movie that everybody knows about hey? I was especially proud of that movie because it says where I was born and raised, Newfoundland...a province of Canada...and not very well known so to hear it's name just makes me proud to be a Newfoundlander! haha It's such a great movie. I've seen it at least 20 times in it's entirety.
And brave HEart. yup another one of those really good movies...deifinitely one of my top 20 movies...maybe top 10 not sure about that one. I would have to really sit down and think about it.
But you didn't tell me why?!

V for Vendetta is by far one of the best movies I have ever seen. Natalie Portman and Hugo Weaving make a perfect Evey and V. I haven't read the comic strips, but I heard it is very true to them. Though due to the swiftness of V,, some of the action scenes with blood weren't the best I've seen, this adventure, action-packed movie with a taste of romance is one of the best movies Earner bros have made in teh resent years!

My favourite movie is "the pursuit of happyness".It is actually based to some extent on a real life story..the main character is played by will smith. I like the movie because it really portrays the hardships faced by people in real life and how few persitent people can achieve happiness in the end after going through hell.

You would probably remember the movie once you started watching it...it was quite popular when it came out...Disney's attempt at making an anime movie. Although it's not quite anime - or at least not in my opinion anyways...Princess Mononoke is anime and also a VERY good movie.
Anyhow! Teenage mutant ninjy turtles the original with the costumes was AMAZING I LOVED that movie!!!
Wedding Crashers is also hilarious, I love Owen Wilson he's hilarious. I'm also a big JAck Black fan!!! Can't wait for his new movies to come out...ummm forget the name of the first one, Margot's wedding or something like that...and Be kind REwind is the name of the other I think!!!
