Okay 2 weeks ago before new year, my FX5200 video card finally gave up on me and I was on the verge of buying a new one, maybe another brand. But then I remember about this procedure of washing your pc parts if all thing fail. So I yanked the video card out, got Joy dish washing liquid, put it on the card, then put it in basin, put some water so it owuld be fully submerged and left for 1 hour.
So one hour has passed. I rinsed it thoroughly and blow dry it with my mom's hair dryer. Installed in back and lo and behold...it came back to life!

well that there is one hell of an experiment that you did with your graphics card was to Frankie speaking I will never tried out on my computer and specially in using any chemical because the generally don't help. I generally washed my compact discs and DVD discs with water and they really do well but washing computer parts that is hardware is something which I would avoid. Anyways thanks for sharing information because any information is not a waste.

Well if you have a broken video card or sound card or even a motherboard and tried everything to revive it then trying to wash it with Joy dish washing may help. If it doesn't then at least you tried it and you got a broken pc part anyways.
Honestly I'm not a believer myself but it worked. Maybe it will only worked 10 percent of the time or less but you'll never know until you tried it.

It happened again. Same video card. No matter what I do, clean the contacts with eraser, used brush for the slot, etc it just wont boot because of the VC. So I washed it again and this was last week. Then voila! it worked again albeit for only 2 days and no amount of washing could ever make it back to life.
So there you go.

This is my first time I read that a part of computer will be submerged in the water to fix it. I guess I need more information on this procedure so that I may know which part can be cleaned this way and which part can not.

That's the wildest thing I've ever heard! Aren't those parts composed in part of cardboard? Cardboard can decompose in water.

That's the strangest thing I have heard in a very long time, the very thought of putting anything electrical near soap and water just goes completely against the grain.
But if it works then it works.
Maybe you should let the manufacturers of Joy soap know of this amazing trick, they may put out a new product, 'Joy Compusoap' cleans all known computer components even at low temperatures, ha ha. Does Joy work on viruses too ??
Have fun..

Wow, I happen to have a Geforce 6200 that doesn't work anymore, would you suggest I wash it?

This is the most radical approach to reviving a computer hardware I ever read. I know you can use an eraser to clean the tip of the video card that connect to the motherboard but washing the entire card with JOY detergent??? lol. Thats not somethings you get advised everyday. lol

Wow. Just... wow.
I'll try it out sometimes, although I fear that Joy was made with some special formula for cleaning computer parts :D
