Whether they are Republican, Democrat, or Independent, who do you believe is the best qualified candidate and why? Is it their charisma, honesty, stance on issues, gender, religion, e.t.c. Why are these things meaningful to you when choosing a best candidate? Regardless, of who you like best, who do you think will be the next president of the U.S?

The next president is certain to be a Democrate, that is pretty much a given. I WANT Hillary to win as I feel she is in the best position to do the best job. However, there really are no bad Dem choices.
The things you mentioned - religion, gender, honesty, charisma, and all other "human" and personal aspects are not an issue for me in selecting my candidate, nor do i believe they should be.

Barack Obama is the only candidate out there than can unify America so we can really take care of the issues plaguing America right now. I'm glad many more people are starting to see what I see as Joh Kerry just endorsed Obama.
I also give a ton of credit to the Governor of Arizona who just endorsed Obama. She shows women that you don't have to vote for Hillary just because you are a woman. Vote for the best candidate and the better person.

I think Hillary is the best qualified, based on experience, strength of character and intelligence. However, she is so disliked by conservatives that I'm concerned she may be unelectable running for the White House, and if elected, she'd have great difficulty in overcoming partisan politics; leading to even greater gridlock and waste of tax payers money.
If it has to be a GOP president, which I honestly think is likely (their scare tactics based on taxes, terrorism, socialism, declining values, immigration, etc. seem to fool too people into voting out of fear and a bunker mentality) I'd like to see either McCain or Huckabee, given they are a little more liberal than the others. Although I don't particularly like McCain's military-biased foreign policy.
I'm beginning to think it will be Huckabee.

Senator Obama hands down! He is different, and doesn't come across as "just another politician". I genuinely think that he is powered by a mission that he believes in his leadership to unite the country and bring about positive changes to do what should be done and what is right.
