So HAVE you ever dedicated a song to someone on the radio? Or has someone dedicated a song to you? I have dedicated a song to someone three times, all during my teen years. The first was to my sister and her friend, then my mom, then a family close to me that was having a lot of problems through no fault of their own.
So tell me about you. If you never have, would you like to?

I might have. Didn't remember. I did ask for a song, but the radio person somehow didn't believe that I have a memory with that song. I told him I broke up with my ex, and he sang me that song on the phone - well a bad version of it. I don't know why the radio person didn't believe it, just because he never had a gf doesn't mean I never had a bf - what a weird lonely person. Anyway I didn't dedicate this song to anyone, I know it will bring memory to others out there so that's good enough.

No, I have never dedicated a song, but it's a good idea for Valentines Day coming up. Maybe I'll do that. Thanks for the idea!
Once when I was listening to the radio, several years ago, I heard my brothers voice on the radio calling in to answer a question. I was surprised and excited since I had no idea he was going to call.

Hi,there,AmbiePam,
I have ever dedicated a song to one of my high school teacher.at that time I would leave my dear teacher who gave me all her knowledge and experience and effort to make me an excellent student ,However ,the result didn't went well and I didn't live up to my teacher's expections for I didn't go to the university I longed for,so this is a regret for me...Before I went to the college I dedicated a song to my loved teacher....
Another time is in my middle school on my birthday ,my classmate dedicated my favorite song for me ,that was really a happiness for me..and was the best present I have ever received..

I did once when I was about 16 and it was new years eve. I was really wasted and dedicated Momma's gonna Knock You Out on the local radio we were all listening to that night. It was dedicated to the man I was with that night. I was a bit of a tom boy and didn't pick a sappy love song. But we did end up dating for a few years after that. HEHE

I never did Ambie, but was thinking about it many times, when I was teenager. It was very popular in that time. Is it still? I don't listne radio anymore, so I have no idea. But i think it will be nice to dedicate a song to my parents for birthday or so. You just remind me teenager eyars , when i was with my dad in the car he was always listing this old broadcast show for people over 50 and the play for their birthdays and so their favorite hits. I just wonder if they still have there show like that, have to ask next time my dad.

A lot of stations around here have special times during the day where people call in and request songs. Delilah, whoever she is, has a national radio broadcast that most of the US stations broadcast, and they always dedicate during that time too. That show is always on at night.

Oddly enough, yes. When I was 15, me and my 2 sisters - they were 14 and 13 - were living in different households. We didn't know for years later, but that first year we lived apart, we each sent a letter to Kasey Kasem (if that's how you spell it, I don't remember) on the top 40 show and asked for same song - We Are Family. I never heard it played or read but we were all flaberghasted years later when we found out about it. That is "our" song, and we include step-sisters and in-laws also.

I"ve never dedicated a song to anyone, but a very looooong time ago when I was young, I fell in love with the song "If". I think Bread sung it. Anyway, I requested it for myself and was so thrilled when the DJ played it and mentioned my name! I still love the song....

I have dedicated a song, and I've had one dedicated to me.
There was a boy who was interested in me and he was a friend of a mutual friend. He used to do some skit on the local radio station with his friend every now and then. When he was on one day he played 'you spin me round' (like a record baby etc). Too bad I was asleep when it was on!
I also dedicated a song to my dog. I called up and wanted my song played and it happened to be dedication night on the radio station so I decided to play it for my dog! I'm sure she didn't really care but the thought was nice any way!

I used to alot when I was a teenager but haven't in a long time. I rarely even listen to the radio. I might start again though. When Hubby and I first started out we had no tv so we listened to the radio ALOT. It was kind of nice.

I can not recall ever having done this. I do recall requesting a song to be played though. I was maybe 9 at the time and I requested "sky rockets in flight" I must have called 5 times in 30 minutes time, the dj finally said okay okay you win...
of course I had no idea, at the time, what that song was about... I would not care to listen to it today.

Oh yeah, Delilah is good. Once though (years ago) someone who made a request suddenly got ticked and started cursing at her! They had to cut her off quick she was so foul mouthed. I felt so sorry for Delilah, but then again, I'm sure she has heard worse.

For father's day one year I requested 'I just called to say I love you' for my dad. I was just a kid too so they made a big deal over the radio! I felt sooooo special LOL

I had a really huge crush on this guy when I was in high school. He was my best friend's brother so I got to see him and hang out with him all the time. I knew he liked me too, but I think we were both worried we'd upset my friend (his sister) by getting involved because I was at her house literally all the time. Anyway, I dedicated a song by Savage Garden and actually sang it on air while the DJ played the song. I taped the entire thing with intent of giving it to him, but never did. I was too nervous that he'd laugh at me lol. It was truely silly of me so I'm glad to this day that he never got it =)I even drew hearts all over the front of the tape next to where I wrote his name.

I used to do this as well, but haven't got the chance to do it again. I got excited when they patched my call on air, I can't believe I'm also hearing my voice on that radio station!;) But as of now, I think I'm just too busy or could be that my time of enjoyment in doing it has passed.
Most of the requests I made were dedicated to my friends, former loved ones and to whoever I am with while making that call.

I was thinking of doing so, but I never had the nerve to do so. I did have a character on one of my stories do so, but I did not write it down. And I would not have dedicated it for real anyway.

No, AmbiePam, I have never done that myself. But I do remember how much I loved those phone in a dedication shows when I was a teenager. I was the thing to do when I was in Jr. High, and then we would talk about it with friends at school the next day.
