Wrestling Fans Still In Denial?

I'm just curious are there still wrestling fans out there that still don't believe it is predetermined. Basically the wrestling match is a dance around the ring with two guys loaded with steroids in a mankini & fabio long hair. I know when wrestling was big a few years ago there were still some in denial. Is this still so? I also feel like I should plug the UFC, where two combatants truly match skill and wits in the octagon. There is nothing better than that, and best of all, its real.

WWF: A bi-curious soap opera for guys. WWE: A bi-curious hardcore soap opera for guys. UFC: A mans sport with real men showing their real martial art training with no acting and no predetermined winners. If you win UFC, your a fighter, not a actor who won the raffle in the hat and won this weeks soap opera 15 min's of fame award. Mankini....thats frickin funny..

Thanks. My brother is a big wrestling even though he knows its predetermined. He says he watches it for the stroylines but I have another theory... The best was a long time ago (we used to share a condo so I was stuck watching WWE) Stone Cold was arrested on tv at a live even in Chicago. I forget the exacts but multiple people actually went downtown to bail out Stone Cold.

My hubby and sons are big wrestling fans, but they realize that the entire thing is scripted and choreographed in advance. My hubby says it is like a soap opera for men.

That is true. I give fans like that a lot more credit than the Stone Cold kind I mentioned above. I was going to say wrestling might be better for younger people than UFC although I do remember some really graphic WWE moments of the past (was in Mankind?). I don't know if they have toned it down since then but I know back then it was pretty gory sometimes.

They've toned some of the blood down, but it still happens. UFC however, its all real and people can get messed up pretty bad.

That is true the UFC can get quite bloody sometimes if a cut is opened up especially on someone's face. Although I have heard experts say the UFC is less detrimental to the fighters than boxing because boxing consists of so many repetitive blows to the head (and brain). Muhammed Ali is a good example, I don't if boxing caused him to be in the state he currently is but it definitely could not have helped much.

My 8yr old son regularly watches WWE aired by Jetix in Indian TV. Since this is predominantly an American show, we had no real idea as to whether the shows were orchestrated or real. Our perplexity was compounded by the fact that so many people were shown to be actually watching the ‘fight’, cheering and jeering with a referee in the middle. While on one hand we argued that such gruesome fighting had to be a ‘show’, cant be real, c’mon no man would survive after being thrown like that, and so on…our son’s faith in the fighters and the spectators all looking so genuine, made us doubt our conclusions. So now I come to know that its all a well-orchestrated show. But then what are so many people doing there, do they actually buy tickets to go and see this ‘circus’? and what are the big belts that they give out? I mean the entire show is so well planned, its difficult to believe that it’s a hoax. How come these are so famous worldwide?

I think wrestling is so popular because it does have a very hard core fanbase who never miss a show or event, also the wrestlers despite the steroids, are still great athletes and do some very dangerous stunts just to get a crowd reaction. If it were truly really I'd admit I've give it another look. But with it being fake its hard for me to get excited when Stone Cold or whoever gets this inner power and knocks four opponents out of the ring because the bad guys have knocked out the ref etc. To me stuff like that gets old very, very quickly.

I agree with you it's obviously scripted. I never liked wrestling. I don't know how others are fooled into believing it's real, though some fans are probably aware of the truth.

its like this... some of the wrestling is a fake...like cutting there own forehead the the effects of bleeding but some is a real fight if the 2 wrestler have a gap or having trouble with each other
