I have a hard time finding discussions I want to respond to. What are some of the best categories to add to your interests. I'm thinking maybe the interests I have added don't have discussions that interest me in responding to. I want to start participating more on here but I need to know what interests have the most activity. Any help would be appreciated.

That's exactly the problem I have. The things that do interest me, not many other people share. And as far as starting discussions, the hard part is thinking of something that hasn't already been discussed.

First off, let me say Welcome to Mylot.
I really don't go to my interests! I created some when I first became a member, but I find that if I go to the discussions links to the left or top of the page I usually find something to respond to. But here lately I really haven't seen anything I really wanted to respond to either. But then again, I really didn't feel like talking either...LoL!!

The interests that gets most responses are about mylot, life, people and relationships. Making money is also one, but I am not really that interested so I didn't add it on my list.
I also have hard time looking for some, in ocassions mylot can really be SLOW in activity. But there are still other interests that I can post or respond to, without even adding them on my lisy. You can try searching on your friend's discussions, top discussions, hot topics, new discussions and even on the recent discussions' area.
Since you're still new, you just have to go through them at times and find topics that interests you. You can also go to the "interests" section and search for some the you can add on your list, make more friends and learn from them as well.

yes it happen sometime and is most of the time due to the way some people send their questions, those questions are just questions and answers at the same time and you become confuse on how and where to start.

The interests that have the most activity are life, people, My Lot, parenting, make extra money, questions and answers and health. I think that life and people have discussions that any My Lot member could respond to. Discussions on topics like computers, Internet and laptops appeal to people that like technology. Pet lovers often discuss topics like cats and dogs. Reading, writing and photography are topics that appeal to many people on My Lot. My favorite topic is travel. Discussions about travel get listed under travel, traveling, travelling, enjoy life, life, holidays, people and names of countries like Australia for example. So I am never sure if I have found all the travel discussions. Sometimes I reply to a discussion and underneath select another one from the similar discussions listed. If I do a search for a word to do with travel like beach or mountain discussions come up that I might be interested in. Someone on My Lot suggested that it should be possible to list our favorite topics then we would be able to find the discussions that interest us most first. I agree with that idea. Each person could choose ten top interests. Mine would be travel, traveling, travelling, reading, writing, photography, life, people, dogs and lastly questions and answers.

Generally, of the many notifications I receive each day from friends, I would find about half I wish to respond to.
In fact, I generally dont get time to respond to as many as I want.

I'd recommend you build your friends list simply by responding to those discussions that do interest you and putting in a friend request when someone seems to have something in common with you. Also, add lots of interests and start discussions on interests you have. Like a certain actor, TV show, musical artist, author, athlete, sport - you get the idea? Start a discussion about him/her/it and add it as an interest and you'll be surprised at the responses you'll get and the number of people who share your interest, even if you think it's obscure.
As for what interests have the most activity, just take a look on the website and you'll see how many members are on different interests but some of the popular ones include "myLot", "people", "life" and "making extra money". And don't forget "pets" - always very popular!
Good luck and happy posting!

hmm i am too facing the same predicatement nowadays.I too find very few interesting discussions to reply. There is very thin line that segregrates people and life discussions.
Keep on adding more interest.I simply go straight to top discussios, discussions by new members, hot topics .There they are all jumbled up so i get a variety.Thats how i have so many interest now.
Hope this helped pal.

apparently yes, storm96723!
I am having a hard time to find discussions to respond. In fact, ironically, I also found it hard to not respond to this discussion because I was looking for a discussion where I could tell about this situation. And so, I found your discussion, I am feeling lucky.
On the other hand, how is it that discussions from your interests don't interest you?
Anyways, I would think that you already have 'life', 'people', 'mylot', 'relationships', 'religion', 'parenting', 'love', 'health', 'cooking', 'family', 'reading', 'dogs', 'politics' and 'internet' as interests!?

I do find it hard sometimes to find a discussion question that is worth responding to. Sense mylot grades on content, as well as the number of post an individual makes- it is almost crucial that a person respond a topic that they actually enjoy. Sometimes, I find there to be numerous repetitive topics, thus making it difficult for me to respond to them with my same feelings, but different words.

Sometimes this is hard for me. Too much discussions and most of them- out of my interest. But if i am really interested to talk about something what is important for me then I go straight to response the discuss in the top discussion.
After that I look at all the discussions on my friends list. Then I just browse and hope around to different things with that.

Not so much. There are discussions which I'm not interested or I don't have any idea which becomes difficult for me to respond. I always go to the new discussions or go directly to my interests so I could easily respond.

Hi there, I noticed that there are lots of topics and discussions here...and I feel that it has been a great help from mylot to feature some topics like general discussions and managed interests..anyway I'm still new here and still learning a thing or two..
Personally for me, I find that it is a bit hard to trying not to answer discussions, since there are just loads of them, *LOL*
