Are you going to watch season seven of American Idol?

It is that time of year again. It is cold, snowing and the new season of American Idol is about to start. So are you going to watch season seven?
I heard that one of this year's changes is that people can play an instrument during their tryout. I am not sure if that is true or not (I guess I will find out in a few hours); if it is true, that should make some of the tryouts unbearable to watch.
As if the tryouts are not sometimes painful to watch, or rather listen to. And yes, that is what drags me into watching American Idol, the bad tryouts. Of course, they slip in the people who actually got past the judges, so by the time tryouts are over, I am cheering for someone and need to watch the rest of the season (those sneaky people).
And this year with the writer's strike, there is very little decent TV to watch; I don't have cable, so that is not an option for me.
So yes, I am watching the seventh season of American Idol, how about you?

The tryouts are the best it's a non-stop comedy ride. Once the tryouts are over it kinda gets boring. I don't understand some people, why do there friends tell them to tryout when they completely suck, do they do this on purpose just to get a laugh out of it because i know i do.

I was wondering that last night with the guy who sung "Moses." If his coworkers didn't tell him that he should try out as a practical joke, then they must be deaf. He definitely could not sing.

Yea his co-workers also said that he sounded like Frank Sinatra. If that was me I would be kicking some butt when I got back to work. I really felt bad for the kid. But I got a good laugh from it.

I am in the same boat, watching because there is nothing else on tv. I am watching it now and so far there are more bad singers than good. They had to walk this one girl (16) out of the room since she was crying so much. It was heart felt!

Yes, that was a touching moment. Even Simon seemed to be touched, and he is British (not that the British can't be touched, it just seem harder to get a reaction out of them).

I've gotten so hooked on that show that there is no way that I would miss this season. It's true about them being able to play instruments this time. I think we need to break out the ear plugs....or else be on the ready to hit the mute button on the remote. LOL I don't have cable either, so watching much else is out of the question.

Wouldn't miss it for nothing. I am ready for the new season to start. Going to record it for my room mate who's working, have my munchies ready and can't wait until it comes on. Have you herd about Paula performing at half time during the superbowl? http://community.tvguide.com/blog-entry/TVGuide-Editors-Blog/Ausiello-Report/Exclusive-Paula-Abdul/800030619

I have heard about it. It is something I am hoping is going make its way to YouTube; I basically am not interested in the teams that are going to be in the SuperBowl this year. Yes, my team lost already. :( I am not sure that I want to watch the SuperBowl, just to see her perform.

Yes, I'm going to watch this season of American Idol. I can't wait until it comes on. I love American Idol. I love the tryouts too. Sometimes the bad singers makes me laugh, but I know I shouldn't be laughing at them. Well, I have about 5 more hours until it comes on here. I'm going to pop a pizza in the oven 30 minutes before and sit back and enjoy.

Most definitely! I like to see people show off their talent, especially when they know they gat it going on! I like to laugh at those people who really think they have talent and have no idea of how horrible they sound. Elimination night is most exciting for me because my favorite usually stays in the competition for a long while.

Well, last year I watched the entire season - again - but it felt like a chore sometimes. I was so uninspired by the finalists and so unimpressed with the winner that I said I would not watch it anymore. However, maybe it's the eight-month break, but I really am looking forward to it, at least to the auditions.

Yes we all love American Idol even the try out parts. We love watching these young people developed their talents more as they compete for the title. We vote too, so we're kinda excited as to who will be our bet this year.

I don't watch American Idol but since I've finally upgraded my satallite, I've been watching Animal Planet and DKIDS.

I can hardly wait for this show to begin!! I am looking forward to the 2 hour special tonight and I am going to sit and be a couch potato during that show which is usual for me. I am excited to see who can really sing and who thinks that they can really sing!!

I'll be watching. I agree with the writers strike on there really isn't much to watch. I love the tryouts the best. I can't help but laugh at others on this show and wonder how some of them are convinced they have talent. I have a thing for Simon too...

Most definitely! I'm an idol addict. Me, my hubby and my two girls gather around and watch it together. I love this part of the show too, the tryouts. Although, I kind of feel sorry for the people that sincerely think they are good and have been told they are good, but really are not. Anyway, I'm on the west coast so I have several hours to go, but looking forward to it!

Am I going to watch American Idle? Is the sky blue? Well, in the summer at least when it's not raining! haha kidding. Of course I'm watching it!
Last year Canadian Idol allowed contestants to use intruments and it was AMAZING, I loved that aspect of the tryouts, and even when it came to top 20 and top 10 they still used the intruments every now and then. I really felt like they were "artists" and not just people who could sing. For example, I can sing pretty good, but if I try to play piano and sing it all goes to mush! hahaha
I do enjoy watching the tryouts and I find myself laughing at people, and in shock at people who apparently are somehow deaf when they sing, or they don't ahve anyone in their life who can be honest with them and tell them they should not go on national tv and audition. BUT deep inside I feel so bad for laughing. And sometimes Simon is outright disrespectful towards people. But like you, they sneakily get me addicted because I watch the tryouts so scope out the good singers. Me and my spouse write down who we think will be top 5 when they narrow it to top 20. It's fun to go through the weeks scratching off someone you picked out, or finding out you were right!
I have my favorites picked already! CAn't wait for the real show to start!

I can say that I will definitely watch season 7 even though it wasn't my pick who won last year... but anyhows, I have been following AI for 4 years now, what's not to love when Simon's there? Haha I can't wait for the funny auditions of the people, the stories that AI seem to think they cover and all of Randy, Paula and Simon's hullabaloos! Yes, so besides the actual singing, I am soo much looking forward to this season's American Idol! I have a feeling that it'll be unpredictable this time.... Oh and didn't everybody love the Birdman's audition? What an entertainer!
WE'RE BROTHERS FOREVER! haha!!!
