ok so im a huge music lover.. i have music going all the time and listen to a wide variety of it.. i prefer oldies or classic rock but i like some newer stuff and a little bit of rap also.. anywho one type of music i could never get into was 80s music.. well i dont like techno or dance/house/d+b stuff either but thats just cuz its all dubbed stuff.. anywho me and a friend who commonly listen to music together while we're hanging out and often talk about it or try and guess who sings it etc (if were listenin to the radio).. and we've had this on going joke that there is good 80s music.. thats what she claims.. i claim theres more good rap.. she doesnt listen to rap.. so far ive made 2 cds worth of rap/hip hop/r&b that she agrees she enjoys listening to.. mostly because she can understand the words i guess haha but anyways shes yet to show me 1 good 80s song.. so i seek the help of the world.. what are some good 80s songs? do they really exist? there must be some right? i mean its a decade worth of music! help me out people :)

You know as well as do little Prince, that it's all just a matter of your own personal taste. In my opinion some of the all time best music, that will live on as long as say, Mozart, came out of the 80's. I could give you a list that went on longer than the limbs of you and your entire family all strung together, but if you don't like that kind of music then of course you're not going to agree. But here's a couple that I think you will have to agree are good songs (the first one is actually late 70's, but I'm including it anyway because I want to, and because I was listening to it in the 80's). Anyway, here they are: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rnDrbagYm24 YouTube - Bob Marley - Three Little Birds http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_ITtKae130 YouTube - 88 Lines about 44 Women - pictures

It just depends on what one likes but I think there was a good representation of music in the 80's just as there is in any era. Whitney Houston, Pat Benatar, Prince, Michael Jackson, Phil Collins, Madonna, Lionel Richie, Journey, Bruce Springsteen, John Cougar Mellencamp, Men at Work, Peter Gabriel, Robert Palmer, Stray Cats, Billy Joel, MC Hammer, Culture Club, Kool and The Gang, Eddie Money, Hall & Oates, The Pretenders, Tom Petty were all some of my favorites in this era and each had quite a few good songs. That is just me though.

Well, except for Tom Petty, but he doesn't belong on the list with all that bad company.

David bowie. He was around in the 80's. I couldnt tell you a song that he wrote/sang in the 80's but i like him as a singer and i know he was around back then, i've seen him in makeup. lol. How about ozzy, didn't ozzy start off in the 80's ? i'm not sure as i'm not entirely up to date on my music history lol. Metalica was 80's. . as was.. ok.. montley crue, lol, and... warren.. Okay that's all i can come up with i think. . now i must go read what others have seaid.

I used to listen to some of them, like new wave and some of those hair band rock stuffs. I also listened to some rap/hiphop music like Milli Vanilli, but later on trashed it since they were lip synching the their songs!;) Most of them were from Micheal Jackson, right before he turned from black to white!LoL Breathe, Williams Brothers were also some of my favorites. INXS, Tear for Fears, Faith No More and many groups that somehow turned the 80's as one of the colorful era for music lovers..

There's many decent 80's tracks, to many for me to name. I like older songs too, although I very rarely listen to anything beyond the 90s and If I had to say any group it would be "queen". they've bought a lot of fun into the world. ~Joey

I grew up in the 70's and 80's (I was born in 68) so the 80's were the music I mostly listened to. I always like the music and there's a lot that I still like. I'd say it's a matter of personal taste. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

I love 80's music - my satellite radio pretty much stays on channel 8. Even the songs I hated in the 80's I enjoy hearing now...guess it's a nastalgic thing. Check out rockonthenet.com and it will list VH1's top 100 songs of the 80's. My favorite bands were Depeche Mode, U2, REM, Billy Idol, Madonna, and Prince. The one hit wonders were always fun too.

u2 and billy idol are from the 70s but youre not the first to mention depeche to me so ill be sure to check them out :) and ya i guess madonna has some hits from the 80s but i find her music isnt long lasting to me.. i dont like hearing it often though she is one of the biggest names from the 80s :D i do however like a few songs by rem.. i never even thought to look at top ten or 100 or any top charts for the 80s.. such a logical thing to do too! thanks for the tip heheh
