Do you help someone who asks for it, or do you turn them away.

Why do people find it so easier to say no than to say yes when someone is asking for help.

I've never turned down help, unless I knew I was incapable of helping them, but would try to find a way that someone else could possibly help them, or find a solution to help them out. It's not within my nature to turn down someone.

I try to help when people ask me to help them out. People who ask me for help me are the people who helped me a lot this past 4 years so I try to do my best. If I cant help them, I let them know why.

I only say no if one of my brothers asks me to do something for them that they should be doing for themselves (like giving them answers on their homework or cleaning up after themselves). Generally speaking, I try to help anyone that asks for it and even people that don't, even if I have to go out of my way. Case in point, I was working one day (I work at a college) and an adult student, very sweet, with a learning disability asked me if I could help him type a paper because he couldnt type and the person who was supposed to come and help him stood him up. I had a ton of work to do myself and his paper was more than three pages hand written. But, I didn't hesitate to help him out and I don't regret it because it made his day and mine too.

HOLES IN THE FLOOR OF HEAVEN - sun shining through the clouds
I help. If there is a way that I can, even if it is just to listen or offer ideas, I am always willing to help someone else. I am a very firm believer in RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS. I am also a Christian and it is my christian duty to be like the good samaritan and give to those in need. Some people are so self absorbed that they don't want to see the need in others. It is unfortunate that our society encourages that type of behavior. But I pray it will get better.

I help just about everyone anytime that I am able and sometimes even when I don't really have it to help. As I have said before in my discussions I am one of those people that does unto others what I would like done unto me. This world would be a much better place if everyone did that.

Very true, it would be a lot better if everyone just helped each other out, no matter how small every little bit matters.

I don't think that you should consider it a weakness, alot more people should be that way, and it always feels good to me when I am helping someone else out.

If i can help someone who asks I will do everything in my power to do so.There are too many people around these days that are just in it for themselves. What happened to charity?.I have been on both sides of the coin, helping someone out and needing help myself.

I don't know, people are getting pretty self centered and not willing to help anyone else unless it benefits themselves. I believe in helping others the best I can, or at least point them in the right direction.

I agree with you, people not all but most have become more self centered, it is a shame that more people are not willing to help or just be there if need be.

I try to help anyone who asks for it in any way that i can. Helping each other is what we should all do, just think of it like you or a member of your family was in need, you would want someone to help you out, so lend a hand, it's free.

My husband and I are very generous people. We try to help people out as much as we can. Our favorite is "Randon Acts of Kindness". When we go out to eat, we find an older person/couple, or someone sitting by themselves eating and we pay for their meal. We get their bill from their server and pay it without them knowing. We ask the server not to tell them either. We don't do this for recognition. It's a great feeling just thinking about how surprised they must have been. Making someone's day makes our day!

If someone asks me for help or advice, I always try my best to help them out. If i cannot help them with their problem or am not sure that my answer is the best one, I always help them find someone else who may be able to give them better advice than I can.

I don't know that I have had that many people straight out ask me for help. I think it is unAmerican to show such weakness, or something like that. But yes, I think I would help people, if it were something within my power to help with.

Thats is great I think that more people need to think like you do, instead of finding it so easy just to say no.
