It depends on the age. Teenagers are supposed to get atleast 8 hours of sleep. Whereas, ex-teenagers can go around with 6-7 hours of sleep.
I get around with 6 hours of sleep. But in times of crisis, like exams (lol), 4 hours is all that I can manage. It's a wonder how our body adapts to a said situation.

For a good night's rest I need about 7-8 hours in order to feel like I got enough rest.

A good night's rest? Is there really such a thing? I usually get between 6 - 7 hours a night. I am very active and it is sometimes hard to get to sleep, so I try to stay up till I get sleepy. I have read though that scientists now say 8 hours is not the norm anyway for people so who is to say what is normal. I get by with what I get. I wish it was more most of the time, but I think it depends alot on your own bodyclock. Each person is different.
