I know the non-smokers are happy about this topic, but I and many others are not. All restaurants that do less than 70 percent of sales in alcohol are being forced to be Non-smoking facilities!!! Meaning, Waffle House, which was were we would go for late night coffee and pie is now Non-smoking! When you think of Ft. Worth TX you think cowboys, cattle, bars, and smoking! I cant believe this is happening, and I need to vent. I will be writing the city council with a strongly written letter. I haven't decided if I should have people who disagree sign a sheet or not. Would that make a difference? Would all smokers sign? who knows Just needed to vent!

We have been smoke free for about year now. The only places where you are allowed to smoke indoors are bars, taverns, or the like. At one point - not sure if this passed - there was a law up that would make it illegal to smoke with children in the car. If you complain will it do any good - I highly doubt it. I can tell you that smoke in restaurants never really bothered me, but the food taste oh so much better with the improved air quality.

The food tastes better? I dont think the cooks smoked while preparing the food. And smokers never have sat next to the grill/stove/prep station, etc. I appreciate your input, and know that you never complained prior to the laws

The food tastes better because there is no one smoking at a table right next to mine. Yes, there were non-smoking & smoking section, but the smoke is in the entire place. It does affect how you smell and how your food taste.

Here in Canada where I live they have banned smoking in all public places. It has caused lots of businesses to go under. Now they are talking of not allowing people to smoke in their cars when a kid is in the car. I am a non smoker but think they have taken it too far, no longer do smokers seem to have any rights. I am mostly against governments telling us how to run our lives and businesses. You never know what may help, I would sign your petition if I was there. Good luck.

We are used to all public buildings being non smoking here in Nova Scotia and it isn't a big deal here. When I smoked it was getting to the point I hid the fact from everyone because of how low the opinion of it was. Even children were not allowed at my house because I smoked, yet I smoked OUTSIDE!

Yes, although there were plenty of non-smoking resturants. non-smokers had plenty of choices to go out to eat, and honestly many of them never had something to say about smokers.

I live in Florida, and they have banned smoking in all restaurants and all bars that serve any type of food. Even at theme parks around here you can only smoke in designated area's. Non smokers are trying to confine us to our house to smoke and then they'll try to take that away. Not saying that smoking is great for me but I have the habit, I mean why don't we make an all smoking restaurant and tell non smokers that they can't eat there, then that would be discrimination.

I agree, why is it ok to tell smokers you cant eat here, unless you want to go outside, and freeze or burn up just to smoke, but its not ok to designate a resturant for smokers!!!

Again I completely agree with what you are saying I mean what has this country came too when you can't smoke where you want to(I mean if someone has health issues and it could put their life in danger thats one thing)but seriously making restaurants non-smoking isn't that going over board? I mean aren't there soldiers that are fighting and dying to make this country free? I thought the whole point of that was that people could do whatever they want whereever they want(as long as it wasn't against the law)

yes it is. But if we (smokers) dont speak up, our rights will slowly continue to fade away! Its partially our faut, for not speaking up. And taking part in the voting process.

I don't think it will do a bit of good. It is happening everywhere. We passed a law here in OH, which they said would exclude bars, and after it went through, we aren't allowed to smoke there either. It was not a clear law and after it went through, they informed everyone that bars were included and that if you were a truck driver, you could not even smoke in your truck, as it was a business, and if you ran a business out of your home, you could not smoke there either. I don't know how they think they can enforce all this, but that is what the law says now. I think if they want to get that technical, they might as well make it illegal, and I am a smoker.

Wow, how ridiculous. They should just make it illegal if they are going to pass all of these crazy laws!
