Yet Another Clinton Era?? Can America Stand It??

Does it bother any one else that one of the front runner's in this election is the wife of a former President....and that Former President is campaigning heavily for her?? Can we really be expected to believe that former President Clinton will not be influencing her decisions if Hillary gets elected? Can we really be certain that he will not in fact, be making the decisions for her? This is something that seriously concerns me. And for those of you who think I worry for nothing, what about the fact that Hillary is not even going to stay in South Carolina until the primary...she is going to focus her campainging on California, New Mexico, and New Jersey instead, allowing Bill Clinton to campaign for her (or should I say FOR THEM) in South Carolina. What are your thoughts on this?

What I am afraid of is if Clinton gets elected and pushes the open border and health care to everyone. Can you imagine the billions on billions spent on citizens who are not citizens! We need to get someone into office (I don't care what party!) who will take the ecomonics of our country back on track. We owe trillions...and when those bills come due we will be in a big world of hurt. Foriegn investors are already taken over part of our banking system...how far can this go?

THANK YOU!! And the more I hear Clinton (and Edwards, and Obamma) talk about their health care plans, the more I wonder just exactly WHERE in an over-extended budget they plan to get the funds to finance them! I am also against the whole open border issue. While I agree that as a country we do owe our citizens something, I do not feel that we should have to support the illegals in our country. If they want to live in the US they should have to follow the laws and procedures to become LEGAL citizens, not just illegally cross the border and bam you are now a citizen.

There is a link to a website that allows you to take a quiz and then sets gives you the candidates that your views best connects to. If I find it I will pass it along. For some odd reason Clinton appeared low on my list!! :-) If you trip over any good facts/pics/info you should send them to www.idontgiveacrap.com ...I know they are currently working on their 'elections/politics' updates for the site! Should be down right hillarious!

If you seriously think that Hillary's decisions are going to be made for her by ANYONE, then you don't know her at all! I happen to love her and Bill, intend to vote for her and also am planning to volunteer for her campaign. She is exactly what we need and I am gonna do everything I can to see that she wins.

Did not Hillary help her husband like she should in his campaign too, so what is the difference, and besides just because bill made a mistake many moons ago now, I think all of us are human here, and we can all make mistakes. I do greatly give Hilary the benefit of the doubt in that she stuck in there and forgave her husband, when how many of us would have walked away. Who is to say how much the closest people to Obama influence him. Hillary is just using what she has at her disposal as so as Obama will too.

Yes, I have to admit that I do admire her for having the guts to stick it out with Bill...though I still wonder if that was not due to political plans on her part, though whatever the reason it took guts. I also have to admit that yes any candidate is going to use whatever means available to them to win votes and get in office. However, that does not mean that I like the idea that there is a chance of the same two people (rolls reversed or not) getting back into office for a third term when they have already served their two terms. I also still think that America needs new blood in office....not another Clinton OR Bush.

i like hilary and if she is a candidate for presidency then i would actually change my mind about the issue of voting and register and vote for her (only for her though) because i think a woman should run for office and i just want to see a woman in the president's chair

Comments like this one really worry me when I think of where our country could end up because people want to go out and vote for either a woman or a black person for president simply because there has never been one. I really don't have a problem with either, but that is not reason enough to vote for a candidate. The decision on whom to vote for as our next President should be based on that candidate's record, beliefs, values, and plans for our country...NOT ON THEIR GENDER OR RELIGION! Also consider this, we as a country are deeply tangled in the middle east right now, and a woman there is not even allowed to go out in public without covering her face. She is not allowed to go to school or vote. How can we expect them to take a woman president seriously? She would not be able to accomplish anything there, mostly because of their different beliefs.

I agree with everything your saying. In fact I have some of the same concerns. Also I am all for woman's rights but I just do not think that a woman should be the president. Besides that, The clinton/Bush era needs to be over. If hillary wins are we gone to expect Chelsea to be running in the future? OR how about Jed Bush. We need need ideas in the white house and that is not gone to happen with Hillary. If Hillary wins theres no doubt in my mind that Bill will be just about running the white house. I also do not care for Obama. I think the best one is Edwards. But the media hypes uo Hillary and Obama so much that Edwards is left on the side lines per say. He really has some good issues.

You are right...all the media attention that Hillary and Obamma are drawing is taking away from Edwards. Look at the debate last night...it was basically a cat fight between Hillary and Obamma. I also like Ron Paul, he believes in following the constitution and getting America back on track. I am not sure how much of a chance he has at getting the nomination though. Officially he is pretty low in the polls.

I think it is just another missing piece of the political puzzle in this country. Politics is just a professional name for liars, because that is what they do. If an honest person runs for a political office and wins, they will not remain honest and stay in office for a long period of time. Maybe Hilary is planning revenge, however, I don't think she will want to appear completely ignorant when she is caught red handed.

Unfortunately I think your views on politics are far too true. I also hope that we actally get some new blood in office this time around. We have had to deal with either a Bush or a Clinton for far too many years now. I had not thought of that motive...she could be planning revenge. I only hope that if she does get in office, she is not able to create more troubles for our country!

What kind of "revenge" could Hillary be planning? I'd think just getting elected, or even nominated would be sweet revenge to her. It would be in her best interests to do what's best for the country and to have a legacy to show for it. Bush's cowboy mentality made it impossible for him to see beyond the rim of his cowboy hat. Actually, it doesn't bother me in the least but I must say I'm amused. When Clinton was President one of the complaints we heard from his detractors was that Hillary was actually in charge; now, Hillary's running for President for real and may very well up winning the whole thing and probably the same people are complaining that if she wins Bill will be running things "again". So, which is it? Was she running the country when he was President and she's now hoping to do it officially or is he planning on getting his foot back in the door through his wife? Come on, let's get real! Spouses TALK to each other regardless of what either of them do for a living; spouses campaign for each other and in a campaign sometimes the candidate will go one place and those campaigning for him or her will go somewhere else, and this can occur no matter who the one campaigning for him or her is, an ordinary staffer or a family member or even a spouse. This is a unique situation in our country but it's far from the first time members of the same family have held the same office, including that of President. Your question was "Can American stand it?" Well, America can easily "stand" another Clinton but I don't think it can stand - or will ever ELECT - another Bush. Annie

I suppose that in a way you are right, but I have to admit that it does bother me to see the SAME two people back in office for a third and maybe fourth term...no matter WHO is actually running the show, and even if the rolls are reversed. On the other hand I also totally agree that the LAST thing America needs is another Bush in office, and I don't think it will happen again. However, I also think that America needs some fresh blood in the White House. We have had either a Bush or a Clinton in office for far too long, and our contry and economy continues to worsen. We need someone different in office to try to give our government a new lease on life. I am not sure that Obamma is the right person for the job either. Edwards gave a fair showing at the debate in South Carolina last night....though that was mostly because Clinton and Obamma had a sort of private "cat fight" going on. Ron Paul would also be a good choice (despite the fact that he is republican) for the simple fact that he believes in doing things to the letter by the constitution. Though he is officially so far behind in the polls that he will probably not get the nomination. However, I must say that I truely believe another term with the Clintons in office will probably be a mistake. Our national parks don't even belong to the US anymore thanks to Bill....he signed a bill that gave them to the UN. How much more of our country are we going to let the likes of the Clintons and Bushes give away before we demand change??

I had to go look it up after I read about Clinton signing over our National Parks to the UN; here's what I found: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070420142830AADGh32 As I suspected, it's not exactly as simple as him giving them away and it's not only U.S. landmarks that are protected in this way. And Clinton wasn't the first to do something like this either. Annie

I don't think that's any different than any other campaign. Wives often heavily campaign with their husbands when the roles are reversed. Former or current presidents have campaigned for their VP (Reagan & Bush Sr) to run in current elections. As far as Bill making choices for Hillary, it seemed to me that Hillary heavily influenced Bill's time in office.

You have got a point there, but considering that this team has been in the WH for the allowed 2 terms already, isn't this a moral issue and an ethical one as well? What are your feelings about her as a potential president?
