Say Hi to Snooky! - Snooky my cat
United States

Snooky (I didn't name him...lol) is going to help me through these tough days I've been going through and I'm going to give this little guy the best life any cat could ask for! He has spent the last 6 months of his life in the basement of a lady who cried as she was handing him over to me. She found him last summer wandering around in her yard looking for food and water every day for two weeks and finally took him in. She already has a dog and two siamese cats who didn't get along with him at all which is how he ended up in her basement. She said because he's such a big cat....and he is huge! She couldn't find a home for him....everyone wanted kittens. I posted an ad on craigslist last night and she answered almost immediately. She was so happy to hear that I would need him as much as he needed me so she had no problem with giving him to me....litter box and all! So, now I have this cute little guy who is obviously petrified meowing around my apartment and I feel so much better than I have recently already. He likes having his ears and neck scratched and I'm trying to be playful with him but he's still very wary of me. That's ok I have all the time in the world. It won't be long before he'll be jumping on my lap as I sit here typing....and I can't wait for that to happen. He's going to have to get used to my camera because he's going to be having a lot of pictures taken. The one I got isn't so great but it's a start. I'm planning on taking him to the vet when I get my ss check at the beginning of the month. The only thing she could tell me is that he has been neutered and I don't know how she knows that.....can you tell by looking? lol.... Everyone....say hello to Snooky!

I think it's hilarious that you don't know whether you can tell if the animal has been neutered. Yes, it's pretty obvious! ha ha. I mean, you could look at a dude and tell whether he'd had his balls chopped off...you can look at a cat and tell that to :) The Kitty looks adorable and I wish you luck on your first vet visit! I hope the kitty is in good health!

ha ha. Yeah. Boy animals get neutered the same way a man would :) it's good that he's neutered already though because it's healthier and it's pricey! Plus it's better to neuter them when they are young. Do you know how old he is? The vets could probably give you an age range though. My cat was a stray before I got him and fortunately he only had a cold and ear mites. A few ear drops and the mites were gone and kitty colds are like human colds. My kitty gets them all the time. It's cute. Oh and is his name "Snooky" like "Cookie" or "Snooky" like "Snoopy" or "Snooky" like "Kookey" ha ha... they really all sound different. and in my head I read "Snooky" like "Cookie".

Oh Snooky what a cool name for a cat, he looks exactly like my cat and I found him exactly the same way, I called mine Stumpy as he only has a stump for a tail, sometimes i think cats are sent to us to lift us, sometimes I even think they have the spirit of out past loved ones as i have noticed the cats that have found me have come exactly when i needed them the most and I know that cats are very much more connected to the spirit world...

I feel the same way about cats and the spirit world and my mom would have loved him. He has me worried though because he doesn't seem to be wanting to be friendly with me. I woke up this morning and he's under my bed and won't come out!

Snooky sounds like a very cautious cat which is a wise thing to be, I think he will come good, it just may take a little time in his new surroundings, he will learn to love you I am sure.

Congrats on finding yourself a handsome kitty! I am sure he will get used to you quickly, most cats do adjust well after a short period, especially if you are the one feeding him and giving him attention! I bet he is HAPPY to be away from that dog too! I had a kitty that looked very similar to him once, but it was female, Her name was dotty, but we ended up calling her moocow kitty a lot, cause she was spotted like a cow and black and white. As for the being fixed thing, i have no idea how she knows that, i've always had girl kitties ;)

If you have read any of the responses I have had some good teachers on how to tell if a cat is neutered...lol. I never realized it was such an easy thing to figure out. The way Snooky is marked I could call him something cow related too since he has the black markings but is mostly white but where he is so big I've started calling him Bigguy!

I am so happy to hear that you and Snooky have managed to find each other, ctry. That reminds me also of a cousin I had when I lived in Tennessee and his nickname was Snooky, lol. He was older than I was and a very nice man. So, go ahead and lavish all the affection you want on your new friend and I'm sure it will be returned in bunches. I still want to find a kitty for myself, and that might now be possible if my plans work out. Isn't it great to have a new love in your life?

Unlike most men this guy is in hiding from me! He's not very much into the petting thing yet and won't come out from under the bed. I guess it's going to take time but I'll get him yet...lol...

Hi, Snooky! This is Pyewacket and Kissy the two kitties that our mom has (pyewacket)...we of course own her, not the other wa around...I think it's so wonderful you have a new home and will be taken care of. Yes, Snooky it does take time to get used to a new place but I just bet in about a week's time you'll not only be hopping on your new owner's lap but keeping her company in bed...we do that with our mom..and she sleeps like a pretzel as we take a lot of the room So a friendly hello Snooky from pyewacket's two kitties ^.-.^

Oh, if only Snooky would come out from under the bed to talk to Kissy and Pyewacket!!! I wonder what he would say other than "meow"? Poor little guy won't even come out to eat so I put a bowl of food almost under the bed for him hoping he will take some.

Hi ctrymziklvr, Congratulations on your new pet. What a great little guy he is, love the picture. Cats are such wonderful companions. Yesterday I was giving my two cats some treats and one growled at the other, I told them to stop or they would soon be as bad as people LOL. Blessings.

Oh, and I just looked at Snooky's picture.. He's really pretty and his eyes look a pretty blue? If you want to see, here are pictures of my pets C: http://s220.photobucket.com/albums/dd62/ilya7x/ There is one black and white dog in there who I named SnooPy who I rescued..but they renamed her. She was reeeally sweet but two weeks previous to that I had found the black dog in the pictures, Buttercup, and was already attatched to her. Our other dog, Xero (rottweiler), loved her just in half a day but we took her to a no-kill shelter but she was adopted within about 2 weeks.

Kitties take more time to adjust to new places than dogs do. Also if he was kept in the basement He probably didn't have a lot of interaction with the lady that gave him to you. just be patient and give him his space for a while. He will come out when he sees it's safe.
