I finally fell today.

Well, I knew it was bound to happen, and it did. This morning as I was going to start up my car, I slipped on the sidewalk (it was just a tad bit icy) and fell into my driveway. My gravel driveway. It really took me a while to get up, I landed very hard on my hands and knees. My palms and knees are scraped up, I've aggrivated an old back injury, and my shoulder is killing me. I also ran my pantyhose...
I'm starting to feel the after-effects of it, and I know it's going to be worse tomorrow. I'm making sure I have plenty of ibuprophin with me tomorrow.
I'm really glad that I didn't hit my head on my car as I went down. I have no idea how long it would have taken for someone to see me! I have no idea what I would have done then.

Oh how I hate to fall. It was one thing when we were kids and we could just bounce right back up Ta Da. Now it just ain't the same!!! I feel your pain! It makes my Back hurt just to think about it. I hope your pain does not last long. And gravel in your hands and knees on a cold day Yukkkk...shivver...
No wonder Fl. is filling up with Northerners. I guess if that happened to me a couple of times I would be making a beeline to a warmer climate too.
Take care of your self Friend!

Oh how I wish I coulda bounced back up quickly from this one. I just feel the soreness settling in... I just hope it doesn't mess up this weekend for me. We're going to be in the car for 5 hours on Friday, but I should be ok by then - I hope... Luckily I don't usually have this problem, but that little layer just got me today.

You're so right Adoniah...when we were kids (back in the Civil War days) and we fell we thought nothing of it and would spring back up again...now we more likely to break something

I am so sorry you fell. I hope you do not suffer too many ill effects. The ibuprofen should be the best ticket for you.

Well, it's morning and my shoulders are a bit sore, my knee is bruised and a bit swolen, but I think I'll make it. My hands are stiff where the gravel scraped 'em up a bit. I'm glad it's not like that out there today, although I think we're supposed to get snow today...

I'm glad to hear that your not hurt to bad especially on gravel. I had my share of falling down due to ice. Now the last time I fell that really hurt was last year. I was bringing my dog in from outside in the rain while holding my daughter. I slipped and to keep my daughter from getting hurt, I went down on my knees on concrete. Lets just say I ripped holes in both knees of my favorite FSU pj's and blood was everywhere. It hurt to move it wasn't even funny, took almost 2 wks to be able to walk without tears in my eyes. I still have the scars.
Also don't know if you know this, but if the locks are frozen, take a lighter and warm up your key then try to open the door.

You are so lucky that you did not fall on your daughter. I have fallen while holding one of the kids too and we do really fall harder it seems because we want to keep them safe. I'm about back to normal, my hands are sore and my knees hurt. My back is a little tight, but it's going away.

My daughter blames me for falling, lol. I knew it was my fault, I slipped. I wish you could explain that to her. Glad that your back to normal almost. It takes time to recover after falling down. For your back, you can take Doan's pills, they work wonders. With your hands and knees, time will heal all wounds. You might bare a scar, but the wound will be gone.

Oh reinydawn I feel for you. Yes it does sound like you landed hard and on a gravel driveway yet...what a way to start the day...NOT. Take a nice relaxing soak in a hot tub...maybe sprinkle some epsom salts in it, might make you feel a bit better.

I wanted to go out in the hottub tonight, but it's too cold for me tonight. I might hop in it in the morning to loosen up a bit before work.
Oh, and of course the rest of the day just went down-hill from there. Too much fun for one day!

I am so sorry to hear you fell but so glad that you were not injured badly. Oh yes, I am sure you will be very sore tomorrow. I take it you don't have a cell phone since you said you don't know how long it would have taken for someone to find you if you had gotten hurt worse? Might be worth it to get one if nothing else but for emergencies.
Feel better tomorrow and be super careful.

I was just running out to warm up the car. The cell phone was in the house, all I had on me were my car keys. Another fear I have is locking myself out of the house when I'm warming up the car, and the car doors locking so I would be stuck. Sometimes I worry needlessly, but those things run through my head sometimes.
I'm almost afraid to go to bed because I know I'll be sore when I wake up! I should go jump in the hottub for a bit, but it's too cold out there...

Ok, I didn't know you were just going out to start your car. What you need to invest in is an electric starter. We give my son in law a gift card as one of his Christmas gifts so he could get one for his truck. He works out of state so much and is in really cold, icy and snowy weather so much of the time and he loves it. My daughter got him one for his other truck and he is hooked on them now. That is what my daughter needs now also so she can stay in her house and start her's in the morning so it will be warm when she takes my grandson to school.

Oh, I know! I have seen those!!! We usually don't have a need for it, but this week it would come in handy! To just stay in the house and the car starts up, oh, I'd love it!

Yes, ibuprophin works very well for me with swelling and soreness. I'm going to take a couple before bed tonight.

I try really hard to be careful because I know that the wood between the driveway and sidewalk is slippery when wet, cold, icy. I also know that my shoes I wear to work aren't the best for gripping. I know if I didn't pay attention I'd fall all the time.

You be careful. I have fallen and reinjured my back several times. I have dizzy spells so I tend to fall easily.
Good luck with your aches and pains. I know you have to continue to work.

I haven't had anything happen to my back in a while so I guess I've been pretty lucky. And this wasn't that bad. So far, I'm doing much better than I thought I was going to!

Glad you didn't hurt yourself really bad. You could have fell on your tailbone and that is really painful. Hope you weren't too sore today! Ibuprophin is a good thing to take!

I'm just glad I didn't hit my head on the car. That would have been pretty bad. I'm still sore and all, but it's getting better.

It is a good thing that you were not hurt worse. Maybe it is just reality letting you know to maybe slow down just a bit. It is when we get comfortable or take our eyes off for just a second, then we fall or get in accidents. Blessings come in many disquises, take care of your bumps and bruises! There has to be a learning experience in this mishap somewhere, look hard enough and you will find it.

I try to be really careful, but I was in a bit of a hurry yesterday. I knew the railroad ties that line the driveway would be slick and I meant to step over them. I misjudged and that's where I slipped. I'm glad it's not like that today!

I'm sorry this happened to you. I'm definitely glad I don't live in a place that gets ice. It can be very dangerous. I hope the pain doesn't get any worse and that you get better soon.

I'm not feeling nearly as sore as I thought I would today. My shoulders and back hurt a little, but not enough to worry about. The scrapes are gonna be sore for a while, but I'm thinking I'll heal pretty quickly.
