I was much better without any star. When I start Mylotting, we didn't have stars.
It was introduced to us later. It works as Mylot reputation. It is something between people who rate you a + and those who rate you as -

Once you get 100 posts you'll get one.
The stars are your star rating. They depend on who is hitting the + or the - button on you. Its supposed to represent the quality of your posting. HOWEVER! It is BROKEN and is ABUSED CONSTANTLY! People will hit - on you if they disagree with you (which is AGAINST THE RULES! http://www.mylot.com/o/faq.aspx). You are supposed to hit - if the person is being very disrespectful, incredibly nasty or uploading posting/explicit material

Nah, people rate you but I have noticed some people hitting 100 have very bogus starting stars. (like 2, 3 or 4). Other times, people have stars like 8 even though they were just beginning, and then end up at 5, 4, 3, 2 overnight. Thats part of how messed up the system is.
I hit the + for you so at least thats one you know.
For many +s and more importantly -s its anonymous and you have no way of telling who did it or why it happened.

Once you cross a hundred posts, myLot will honor you with a colored star. It is a rating that represents the reputation you have earned in this site. The high the number, the higher the reputation. I would like to believe that this number is determined through a number of factors like your level of participation, quality of your posts, the ratings feedback other members give you (either + or -) for your posts, how many best posts you have been voted for, etc. I understand it is not a one-way traffic of ratings rising only, and one's star rating can rise or fall over time.

i've always wondered what the stars meant. And now that I've reached 100 post I wonder why I have such a low rating. Just like Theprogamer said I hope people are abusing the star rating system just because they disagree with what somebody has said. I know in my earlier post (when I first started mylot) I wrote about High School Musical and Zac Efron ALOT. I know that people aren't big fans of the franchise as I am. LOL

I'm not sure. Someone told me it has to do with your ranking...how good you do in a particular topic or interest!!!If you look above your name in the corner there is a question what are interest rankings...that might help you.

When you get to 100 posts you will get a star, kaylie. There's more information about the stars and the numbers inside them in the MyLot questions and answers (FAQ).
You'll be there pretty soon. So keep posting!
