Anime Music Addiction!

I find that I sometimes get really addicted to the music of a particular anime, to the point where I'm listening to it years after watching the anime itself.
For example, at the moment I'm listening to music from Gravitation. I love the show, but I haven't actually watched it in years... though I might do so again soon just because I've been on such a kick for the music. But I have the vocal collection and the soundtracks on my computer, and I keep finding myself going back to them when I'm looking for music to listen to. My son is even starting to sing along in Japanese, which is the funniest thing in the world, since he's not yet 2 and still trying to grasp English. :P
Do you listen to a lot of music from anime? Which anime? And do you find you're still into the music long after watching the show or movie itself?

http://downloads.khinsider.com enough said :E
The one that is ringing in my head all day at the moment is 'Kirameku namida wa hoshi ni' from Fate ~ Stay Night. Before that was 'Kuso Rumbo' from Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, and the one before was... I'm a dork, can you tell?
Ok, now that you got me fired up, I have to look for more anime songs... more.... more... my precious...

"Do you listen to a lot of music from anime?"
Lecan, look at WHO just showed up and who's talking now!!
Yes, MULTI-YES!
"Which Anime?"
Oh now you make it harder!
Animes in question and songs in particular
And this will have you listening for a bit, and from the sound of it, mess up your child in learning the "right" language! XD. There's text too, and even some dialect in a couple of them.

If you did get through all of these then you must have been up for quite a bit.
If not, then I hope you do get through them soon enough.
I also missed a few most definitely, but this list did take awhile to make up. And I think I'll add a few more.

I have to admit that I am total ignorant about Anime music.
I probably watched one Anime movie total in my life.
Maybe, because I don't watch TV.
I have to check out Anime music...do you have any link to Gravitation?

Hehe, not a big anime person like me then, eh?
You know, I don't have a link offhand to Gravitation. I downloaded it years ago and have it somewhere in my collection of burned discs, but I don't know where you would find it right now. I noticed the music for it was on that site that the first poster mentioned, though. :)

That's a fan-made anime music video based on Gravitation. So while the artwork is from the series, the music is just a song whoever made the video thought would fit with it, and not actually music from the series.
If you search for it episode by episode on youtube, you can find them all I think, but you have to put it in like "gravitation episode #" and then you get them split in half. I don't usually watch things online like that... I typically download using bittorrent and sites like torrentpond to find what I'm looking for. I'm sure there are better ways of finding anime online, but I'm not an expert. :P

that happens to me a lot of times. ^__^ just like recently, i was listening again to soundtracks of Sailormoon and other animes like Rurouni Kenshin, Cardcaptor Sakura, Rayearth, etc. which i have also watched a long time ago. i loved the music before and i'm still loving it now and i listen to it every now and then when i get bored of the local music and the usual stuff (English songs). i also listen to Japanese pop/rock songs and some Korean pop songs. ^__^ there's a lot of old soundtracks that i still love and i don't get tired of them. i still listen to them once in a while.
kawaii!!! i can imagine how cute your son is while singing an anime song! actually, i want my little nephew to learn something different too, like a Japanese song. i think it would be way too cool! but i just can't expose him and teach him because i'm not always with him and even if he's just 3, he has already some interests. ^__^;;

It seems I don't get tired of Japanese music as quickly as English music, perhaps because I've only been listening to it about 10 years as opposed to since I was a little kid. Or perhaps because I'm always working on trying to pick out the lyrics and understand them! :)
Hehe, yup it is awfully cute, him trying to sing in Japanese. I can't wait to see if he actually picks up more of the language as he gets older.

LOL that's the same thing for me too. i've been hearing a lot of English music and hearing something different like a Japanese song is really something new. i also work hard in getting the translation, understanding it and then learning Japanese language too. ^__^;;

Yes I find myself listening to music from anime all the time when I have the chance I have listened to music from Inuyasha, because some of there song are just unbelievable, Trinity Blood, Samurai Champloo, Last Exile, Trigun, and many many more. Me and my friends have actually traveled over an hour from our home to visit joy's japanamation to get cds that you can't normally find anywhere. LOL!! And most definitely it's being listened after I have stopped watching the show and movies. LOL!! I just love both animee and their music.

Oh wow, that's dedication, driving that far out of your way to get the cds! I've just been listening mostly online, because there's nowhere to buy it here and I don't have the money anyway, but I have a few I'm definitely going to order online when I have the money. Gotta support the companies so they'll keep the good stuff coming! :)
I love anime and anime music as well! It's so funny to me because before I met my husband I thought I didn't like anime... I had only seen one anime movie, and I didn't like it, so I just assumed I didn't like the whole genre. How stupid of me to have wasted so many years I could have been enjoying it! Now I'm a bigger fan that my husband and most of his friends put together! :P

I'm sure my son will wind up being like that! He already pretty much only pays attention if whatever is on the TV is animated, whether it's American cartoons or anime. And he tries to sing along with the Japanese music I listen to, even though he's still working on talking in English. :P

LOL!!! I know what you mean I have always like watching certain things on the cartoon network, but when I meet my other half and my bestfriend they showed me a whole world of new things with anime. It was awesome. I have enjoyed listening to the music and watching it ever since. I also do tend to listen to it online when I have the chance, but with my five kids I hardly have the chance to hear anything but mommy can you please get me a drink of water. LOL!! I have to be on late at night to play on mylot sometimes and I try and sneak it in when they're at school LOL!! But my kids through me and my other half and bestfriend have started watching anime, I have a daughter who wouldn't let me watch inuyasha without her being present and when I went to work she would go throught the seasons I owned and the movies that I own. LOL!! i think all my kids are somewhat addicted to anime.

ha ha ha ha ha... that is really rare for me. I cannot really remember most of the anime cartoon theme songs till I hear them again.
Most of the time, the story of the anime captures me more than the music. I tend to remember scenes in an anime more than the music.
Guess your son is in the process of loving everything Japanese eh?

Yes! I love anime music, especially the music from NANA by Anna Tsuchiya, and Olivia Lufkin. I also discover lots of j-pop/rock bands from anime, even from shows I don;t like. For example, I'm Not into "action" fantasy-type anime like Eureka 7 & Naruto, but I fell in love with the Naruto songs by Asian Kung Fu Generation.

I love listening to the theme musics from Naruto. Especially, the opening songs. Makes my blood pump a little faster because of the fast beats and hard bass! Plus, I love listening to Gundam Victory theme music! It's one of my favorite anime music because of its upbeat music! I also sometimes sing-along with the Japanese songs even though I don't understand what I'm saying! Lol! I always get carried away with those songs.

I listen to a lot of Japanese music, and in Japan, a lot of the anime has some of the more serious bands in them. So I listen to a lot of music from bands that gave a song to an anime.
HOWEVER, I listened to those bands long before ever knowing they'd written music for a show. That's why it bugs me when people talk about P0rn0 Graffitti and L`Arc~en~Ciel songs because they each contributed to FullMetal Alchemist as "those FMA songs," when I loved both bands long before watching that series.
I guess it's nice that they gain popularity that way, though.

You have a good point about the bands themselves having merit besides what they've done in anime. I started listening to L'arc~en~Ciel after a friend recommended, so I knew them before FMA as well. They were pretty much the first Japanese band I was into beyond a relation to anime.
I'm starting to branch out a little now, based mostly off suggestions from friends, but it is still easiest for me to get involved with Japanese music through anime. I've been an anime fan for years, before I was really interested in anything else Japanese at all.
I suppose it's much the same thing as me getting annoyed at people who call themselves anime fans but have only see one or two series, usually Dragonball Z. :P

Gravitation! Some of the best music ever, in my opinion.
And yeah, I know exactly what you mean. I get addicted to anime music constantly. Look into the stuff from Full Moon wo Sagashite; it's awesomeness incarnate. I also love the stuff from Samurai Champloo (even just the background instrumental stuff), and Cowboy Bebop, and even Bleach and Inuyasha. Lots of great artists do music for anime, I swear.

Yay! I totally agree, it's some of the best music ever!
I love so many of the songs! I have to say my favorite is probably Shining Collection, from the OAV... it's just too awesome.
Oh, I'll have to look into the ones you recommended! I have watched Cowboy Bebop, and there is some awesome music in that, and what I saw of Bleach had some good stuff... I'll have to check out the rest. I'm always looking for anime to watch as well as music to listen too... I need something now that I've caught up on Naruto and am waiting for the newest episodes to come out!

I love the music from the Gundam series and listen to them over and over again, though I don't watch the anime again. Some of the music are soothing and some get you to rock and roll, so it's really good to inject some fresh energy and drive the boredom away. Besides Gundam, I love music from Joe Hisaishi, which were featured in several well-known anime movies like Laputa and Princess Mononoke.

Yeah I do that as well much to the annoyance of a few people I know.
The OP song from the Fate Stay Night game, which is what the OP to the anime was based off of... game versions just a little more... electronic I suppose. (Not to mention CrowsClaw also does a version using a lot of guitarwork)
Uh, A lot of the Cowboy Bebop music, the Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040 OST... Various OP and ED songs like Read or Die, Ookami to.. I mean Wolf and Spice, Shakugan no Shana Both of the Zetsubou sensei Op's a bunch of stuff from Noir, that song from Angel Sanctuary (I think it's called Sanctus) and then we hit the full on OST's which I don't remember what all I have since they're on the other computer. I know I have a Code Geass one, two Gunslinger Girl OST's Innocent Venus, Higurashi... I could go on but let's skip to game OST's
I've got that complete collection of IdolM@ster songs... I only mention it because it's a game with anime style graphics and well I'm not sure if it's ever had an north american release. I can wish, and hope we do and that if we don't that we do.
