Nicole Kidman's placenta claims
Jan 24 2008
(BANG) -Nicole Kidman kept "some of the placenta" after miscarrying Tom Cruise's child, it has been claimed.
The Australian actress lost her unborn child in the early 90s and reportedly saved part of the ephemeral organ, which is rooted to the womb lining during pregnancy and delivered by expectant mothers as afterbirth, to prove Tom was the father.
In controversial new book 'Tom Cruise: An Unauthorised Biography', author Andrew Morton claims: "Tom and Nicole did try to start a family but she sadly had a miscarriage. And because of all the questions over the father, she ordered that some of the placenta be saved in order to prove paternity - the fact that Tom Cruise was the father."
Tom, who is a keen follower of Scientology, has previously revealed he is a fan of placentophagia - the practice of eating the placenta.
Before current wife Katie gave birth to their daughter, Suri, Tom said: "I'm definitely going to eat the placenta. I thought that would be good. Very nutritious. I'm going to eat the cord and the placenta right there and then."
Many mothers eat their placentas as they believe it is nutritiously beneficial and can help relieve post-natal depression.
The Church of Scientology has branded Morton's tome "a bigoted, defamatory assault replete with lies", and threatened legal action. (C) BANG Media International

Does anyone else think this is totally strange, if not disgusting? Eating the placenta? Oh my God, I can't imagine anyone doing that. If feels to me like you would actually be eating a portion of your own child. Ugh!
Your thoughts?

That's got to be one of the most disgusting things I've ever heard!
I have long though Tom Cruise was, quite frankly, a bit of a weirdo. I don't deny that he's a decent guy, but he's just weird. Now, having read what he said, I'm convinced that he's got a freakin screw loose!
That's just nasty.... *shudders*.... yuuuuucckkkkkkkk!!!!

i agree eating placentas is very disgusting, as i have heard rumours about it, there are celebrities who do it in the hope of improving their complexion and regaining a youthfulness. they believe it works and they tell that it is full of amino acids and protein. but there are other ways of achieving , improving a good complexion, eating human placenta is not yummy but its yuckkkyy... you can term it a borderline cannibalism becausw its a part of human flesh.

I have heard of people saving their placenta and burying it under or near a tree, but I have never heard of people eating it. That sounds disgusting. With all the weird stuff that Tom Cruise is always saying and doing; I wouldn't put it past him. I really hope this isn't true though. Yuck.

This is quite normal in the animal world. Most animals will eat the placenta after their offspring are born. There are many nutrients in the placents, and the doctors are right, it can help to alleviate post-natal depression. But... you won't catch me eating one in a million years!!! Even knowing all the facts I still can't bring myself to eat it.
On a small sidenote did you know that some lipsticks use placenta in their ingredients???

I know that animals eat their placenta afterwards. But I have never heard of a human being eating it. It probably does have alot of nutrients in it. But something raw like that, UGH that sounds disgusting!

Hi patgalca! That is disgusting! Eating the placenta? Ugh! I can't imagine anyone who would be eating that. I know they use placenta in certain beauty products but to eat it? I really find it disgusting, I am so sorry. Take care and have a nice day! :)

well he wont be the first to do it. Once I heard that there was actually a book (cook book) about how to prepare it as gross as it sounds. I personaly would never do it and it makes me sick just thinking about it but hey if someone wants to eat it thats ok but to me that is borderline canabalism
