Are you afraid of Heights?

I am not afraid of heights in general, like when I'm driving towards a mountain pass, etc. But when it comes to vertical heights, like looking down from outside a window in a 11th floor flat, then things change. I don't think it's too bad in my case, but still it's not a nice feeling at all. I know of people who get really blocked because of this. Does it happen to you? Do you know any remedy against the fear of heights?

I never used to have a problem with heights - of any kind - until a few years back. I started feeling dizzy and the doctor told me I have a inner ear problem. Sometimes I am just fine and I feel dizzy. So now I do have quite a problem with heights, because I fear that I might feel dizzy. I still enjoy light climbing but I am very careful now because although it usually goes away in a minute or so, it will not be a good idea to have one of those spells when I"m high up :)

Personally i will have to say yes I'm afraid of heights, but it also depends on how high you are speaking of. I dont get scared until im around the 17th floor. i can surely say that the 26th floor is scary. i get dizzy instantly and my head spins. I think the fear of height begins when gravity combines with humanity. The brain enters a stage in which it not usual. Creating Fear.

Luckily it is a fear I don't have and I can only imagine how horrible it is for people who do - espescially in this modern world of ours with so many mega high buildings! xxxx

I can honestly say yes I am afraid of heights. I live on the third floor. I usually go outside to smoke, but since we moved from the bottom to the top I do not really go out on my balcony to smoke. I now, go out to my kitchen under the breeze over my stove. I do not like to smoke inside. I mean, even if I smoke, witch is not healthy I will not let my kids or others be around it. But because of my fear of heights There is nothing els to do...running downstairs and go outside would be much efforts. And lately I have cut down on my smoking since we have to only smoke on brakes at my job.

I'm not. But may be I feel the same with you, when I'm standing on the top of a building 7-30th floor, and look down to the road, woooooooooooow... I feel the attraction of gravity, I feel like little bit funny feeling in my head and just like wanna jump. hehehe

I didn't realize that my mother was afraid of heights until I inched my way to the edge of a 300 foot cliff to look over the edge. I'm, lets say, wary of heights. I don't want to fall, but I'm not particularly afraid of heights.

I am actually the opposite of you. I can climb mountains but I would have a big problem getting down from it as when I look down, everything will start to feel funny but if I am in a building, I have no problem looking down or getting down by the stairs or elevator.
