Do you find when you eat rice like 20 minutes later you are still hungry. Like it didn't fill you up at all no matter how much you eat or what you eat with it. I always feel this way. Like I'm starving afterwards and need to eat more food. I hate it because I feel like such a pig.

The curse of Chinese take away! lol
I have experienced this, but only with easy/quick cook rice. I THINK it is because it will have had much of the starch and protein (yes, rice has protein in it) removed to make it cook quicker. These are what fill you up and keep away hunger pangs and sugar cravings.

Maybe I should switch to the long grain rice that takes 20 minutes to cook but has stuff in it!!!I won't be so hungry afterwards

I don't find this a problem when I take the time to make brown rice - but white rice, some how I do feel hungry again quickly. not my husband though - if he eats a rice meal he gets so full he can barely eat his serving, and it sticks with him for some time.

Hi. I don't eat much rice but when I do, it is quite filling but even I am hungry a few minutes later after it settles. There are alot of foods that work that way on me. I eat and get full, and a few minutes later, I am hungry again. I hate it too because I would like to lose some weight.

LOL. I wish I had a high metabolism. I have a steady hunger pain too. I wish what I ate would give me more energy to exercise too. that would be nice.

am like that too. My husband always jokes that if I didn't eat so much our grocery bill wouldn't be so high...lol...but i am lucky i have high metabolism so i don't need to lose any weight but i do need to tone up what weight I have! Pain in the butt when all you want to do is eat.

rice is a carb and it will fill you up fast butis easy for your body to break down and your metabolism doesn't get much of a boost by eat foods that are easy to digest. Protein is the best thing to eat for that. You will feel full and your body has to work harder to break it down. You will lose more weight that way.

Rice is carbohydrate and we use the energy quickly, therefore we feel hungry again very quickly

I love eating rice, . I eat rice at least once a day... Now it's sad coz i have to loose weight. I gained a lot last year and don't like the way i look now. So have to cut/lessen my carbo intake. I into fruits and veggies right now but would definitely eat half a cup of rice in a day.

we are rice eaters here and we feel full when we finish our meal. We cook the rice fully here not three fourths like chinese do. Our way of eating rice with curry, vegetable side dish and curds maybe the difference. I don't know. If we eat in the afternoon lunch we do not feel hungry till the evening snacks time that is about 4-5 hours later.
I have made Vegetable Pulao and Paneer masala today and waiting for my husband to come. Have you tried any of the Indian recipes?
