I just thought I would share with you what I have just found while surfing the net. I just came back from Palawan second week of January and during my stay I was really captivated by the beauty of this island. Please read this article where the picture shown is taken.

Palawan is indeed magnificent. We went there in 2006 and have gone from Puerto Princesa to Sabang (where the underground river is) and then to Port BArton. I must say that Palawan has managed to preserve a lot of its natural resources all because of the aggressive actions of the local government and the cooperation of its people. For pictures and travel experiences, please read my blog articles at http://www.pinas-et-al.blogspot.com. There are 3 - 1 article for puerto princesa, another for sabang and the other for Port Barton. My favorite among the 3 places is Port Barton because we got to see palawan in its almost unspoiled state. Beautiful!

Wow, I got to see your blog and I was impressed. You've got an awesome site, brilliant ideas and excellent writing skill. By the way, I found the article you mentioned about Palawan and even if I had been to Sabang and Roxas I can help to be jealous of you getting to see Port Barton. It's my dream to comb all these places from north to south, east to west of Palwan and I'm crossing my fingers.

Since we are on the topic of Palawan, has anyone been to Amanpulo?
I know that it's a first-class beach resort. I just saw the pictures from the internet though. Sigh! These are the must-see places in the Philippines. It's not polluted like other beaches.
If you have the budget, I definitely recommend Amanpulo :)

It sounds lovely but I didn't find much to look at by way of photos. It sounds to be the sort of get away from it all type of place that I would love.
I'm not much into diving or snorkelling preferring to just wander along the beach and do a bit of bushwalking.
Can you tell me where you stayed and what you spent your time doing? Many of your countrymen have mentioned what a beautiful place the Phillipines is with all those islands. You never know, I just might visit one day. I'd also like to find a currency converter...do you know how the PHP converts to the Aussie Dollar?

I am not surprised that you were captivated by the beauty of Palawan Island. I have heard that it is a fairly large island in the the Philippines full of beauty and its landscape is quite unspoilt. I know that there are some even more unspoilt islands a tiny bit north from Palawan. I really want to go island hopping in the Philippines and do much snorkeling to see beautiful fish and multi colored coral. I am glad that you had such a fantastic trip in January.

I am jealous. I am ashamed. And I am homesick. I have been away from home (Philippines) for only 9 months now. And I had to admit, I have never been to Palawan yet. And whenever I go for a vacation... out of the country is always my desired destination. I know there are lots of nice places at home and I am proud of it. I even tell friends abroad to check it out and visit them, but I never done that myself. My reason is.... Philippines will always be home to me and no matter what, it will always be there for me. (Aside from the fact that it is cheaper to go to Hong Kong for example than to go island hopping in the Phils.) So I visit other places first and plan to go there when I am done visiting the world. It may sound stupid but, sometimes, people really overlook what is actually under their nose. But it's a good thing that I am married to an American and he loves scuba diving. We are planning to go there in the future. Thanks for the wake up call.

That's really very nice of you to share this one and put it to our attention, I am glad that we have so much more to be proud of!;)
Though I haven't been there yet, I knew people who are from there (mostly my friends). The only thing that keeps me from visiting the place was the budget, I still have to save some if ever I want to go island-hopping there!;)
But just this week, I believe that they are also planning to develop some areas in El Nido to make way for a bigger port. Locals from that area are doing their best to prevent the developers in destroying the natural scenic beauty of it, which I hope these business investors would consider.
What the articles says are all true, there are still uninhabited minor islands there that are worth visiting at..
Ranking number four is not that bad, especially when we're talking about the whole world!;)

Thanks Raijin for your apt response. But I made a mistake I posted it under "listening to music" when it's supposed to be under "Travel" or Philippines. Anyway, I hope our mylot friends will find it in their hearts to forgive me.
Anyway, I'm really happy with the ranking..you know people have different views on beauty. I mean for others like me Palawan is #1 :-P

Yea, it's really worth the trip. A few days ago Jessica Soho of Imbestigador said that when God showered blessings to earth, Palawan or Taytay, Palawan has caught plenty of them. If you want to visit Palawan, you must go to the Underground River, it's one of the best. Although El Nido is a paradise but the beaches in near underground is equally breath-taking and it's near Puerto Princesa. Well, Honday Bay is also great!

Wow, I'm so flattered. I'm from Palawan and I can say that my province is gifted with so many beautiful places. When I was on the plane I saw the Snake Island in El Nido and it was very beautiful. I just hope the people will take care of the place and stop abusing its natural resources.
