I can cook great meals, However baking is an art I have not mastered.
I bought myself a cookbook and yesterday I made a cherry & coconut cake. It tasted lovely very moist and the whole family had a slice for tea.
Usually my cakes burn on the bottom and are raw in the middle. Today I will attempt a coffee & walnut cake.

I used a large mixing bow and a wooden spoon I did not use my mixer. It's a very easy cake to make.
Today I am making a coffee and walnut cake, My husbands favourite. I will let you know how it turns out.

Your cherry and coconut cake sounds so good. How about sharing the recipe with us. I would think if your cakes usually burn on the bottom but are still raw in the middle then it might be your ovens fault not yours. Make sure your rack is in the middle of the oven.Lets us know how the coffee and walnut cake turns out.

that sounds yummy. I love coconut and I love walnuts. I've been baking lots of cakes lately because I just took a cake decorating class. I learned a lot. I was never really good at baking but with lots of practice I've gotten much better.
